All smiles at the public interview.

Even his interrogators in the background are grinning for this one.

Do the Indonesian authorities have a concept of how bad this looks? As the article says, the whole thing's very murky, so for all we know this guy could just be a patsy...

let's see if this maggot & his cronies are smiling when the firing squad take aim one day soon.

Probably even a bigger grin on his mug then!! Being a martyr is what they live for isn't it. It all sounds very very suspect. He states that he did it and was aiming at Americans, Bin Laden releases an audio tape claiming it was aimed at allies of the US and in the Bali instance Australians as 80% of the people there were Aussies. This guy sounds like a sacrificial lamb and will gladly die for the cause and the real culprits get off.

For some reason every time I see that photo I keep thinking that the guy reminds me of Ferris Bueller. Just the way he looks. Must be because I saw an advert for Ferris last night.

Anyway, bit strange to see them all doing that. the guy slaughtered innocents yet all they can do is smile and laugh. Makes you wonder how serious the Indonesian police are about this.

It's not a ringing endorsement for law and justice in Indonesia.

I haven't been incredibly pleased with some of the reactions coming out of Indonesia and Malaysia post-Bali, seems there's a fair few over there who aren't particularly upset about what happened.

Megawati's busy being seen to be doing something but is more concerned about not stepping on any toes in Indonesia.

This guy's most probably a scapegoat and the ones smiling behind him a f'wits.

I say slit his throat and let him bleed to death very slowly. This picture has infuriated me to no end at work.

What ****es me off is not only the photo, but the fact that during the interview he pointed over at a group of Western Journalists and said in Indonesian "Those are the sort of people I wanted to Bomb".

It would be too easy to kill him, let him rot in jail for as long as possible before he is "rewarded in death and praise in the afterlife" for his barbaric actions.

Can the Australian Government please do to Indonesia what they did to China when it went under Communist rule and just not acknowledge its presence anymore?

I am not feeling the Indonesian 'authorities' are taking this very serious.

I've been reading reports about the cultural differences between Indonesia and Australia and how laughter and smiling can be used even in situations like this to hide fear and nerves.

From what I've seen of it, that smile looks forced and not a genuine one.

Be interesting to see how many people now have a broken TV from throwing their chair or another hard object at it...
