A genuinely nice guy, which is probably the reason why he could never really get ahead in politics. The news about his brother is terrible, and while there is never a good time to get such news, today would have to have been the worst possible occasion. Good luck and condolences to him and his family.

Best thing ever for thepoeple of Rockingham, but as they are mainly working class migrants from UK living there I guess it's a safe seat.
It makes a few WA marginals suss though. Bombers influence in WA probably saved a couple of seats in the last election

Absolutely appalling news about his brother. I seems David was a bit slow, but held down a public service job for 25 years. The comments I've read from their neighbours put me in mind of the way people with similar disabilities are treated in country towns. Knowingly, understandingly, supportively and sympathetically. No surprise that his brother was so loved by the local community, nor that Kim loved his brother as much as he did. In turn, it would seem that David was very proud of his brother and loved him very much.
Ya gotta feel for the family, and for the community which held David in such high regard. No, life's not fair.
