Jetta Dunn Garland
Watts McDonald Grimes
Viney Jones Trengove
Kent Hogan Vince
JKH Dawes Gawn
Jamar Tyson Petracca
Toumpas Salem Cross Howe

All things perfect for the start of Rd1

That leaves Terlich, Riley, Michie, Barry, Jones.M, Mckenzie, Fitzy, Bail outside the ideal 22

Add to that our Pick 3 and or who we trade in and it already looks younger and better

The best outcome for us is that middle tier listed above plays little senior footy next year, though we all know it never works like that

For me there is **** all trade bait there, as Id like to keep Howe as a 3rd forward option
Someone who can rotate with watts into the midfield and kick the 3-4 between them is so Vital
Hogan isnt gonna win a Coleman and a premiership on his own

Opposition supporters will be quaking in their boots.

Will Trengove develop any speed by 2015?

Will Trengove develop any speed by 2015?
He doesn't need to develop speed, he needs to undevelop whatever caused him to lose it. Was one of the faster players in his draft year.

He doesn't need speed anyway
Used to have ripping core strength and a good step away
Plus he positioned himself correctly all the time and kept his feet

Just needs the confidence back in his body

Strongest attribute was probably his contested marking.

His strongest attribute is his sister ..

Jack Watts' two finest qualities would be his sisters. The picture of him with them when he was drafted didn't stay up on the AFL website for long.

I'm a sucker for posting potential Round 1 lineups in the off-season. It's just too goddamn tempting.

FB: Neville Jetta - Lynden Dunn - Colin Garland
HB: Jack Grimes - Tom McDonald - <quarter back/designated kicker>
C: Daniel Cross - Bernie Vince - <mature age mid>
HF: Jack Watts - Chris Dawes - Jeremy Howe
FF: Max Gawn - Jesse Hogan - Dean Kent
Foll: Mark Jamar - Nathan Jones - Dom Tyson
I/C: Jack Trengove - Jack Viney - Jimmy Toumpas/Christian Salem
Sub: Jay Kennedy-Harris

Couple of points:
- Resigned to losing Frawley, hopefully we are handsomely compensated for with a Band 1 selection.
- Malceski is the dream to fill that HBF position, though someone like Gwilt off the garbage heap could play a role for us. Could double up as a tall defender in certain lineups.
- Have no idea who this mature mid that we will bring in will be. Boyd would be a nice band aid solution, though someone like Robinson, if he could ever keep his head screwed on would fit like a glove. Higgins would work too with his outside run and ball use, but he seems to have a long list of suitors already.
- Howe and Watts to rotate through the back-line and midfield when necessary but to start games, I would like to see them up forward keeping the opposition defence honest.
- And hopefully, one of Toumpas and Salem to really come on next year. There is a role in the team for both of them if they can fast track their development, otherwise Bail will keep getting games.

Draft?
Pick 2: Petracca
Pick 3: Brayshaw? Or trade down and get another young player pushed out by circumstance. Hrovat's a name that's been thrown around here a lot. Not sure who else will be on the market, but hopefully another Tyson/Salem deal.
2nd Rounder: Send it Sydney's way for Malceski and some depth/late pick? Yes, we're overpaying in the sense that he could come for free, but Pick 3 can do a whole lot more to the make up of our list than a Pick in the 20s could. Given the steak knives are actually chances of becoming solid players, I say we do it.
3rd Rounder: Stretch?

Hiya guys...thought your year was going to be a lot better than it turned out, but you are on the right track... I think (fingers crossed)
I notice no mention above of Cam Pederson and I was wondering your reaction to delisting Dan Nicholson, who I rate as a player.

Pedo will likely have to replace Dawes in these lineups since he got himself suspended for round 1 next year.
Re: Nicho, we've popped the champagne! He's fit, reasonably fast and a decent worker, but his kicking is atrocious and doesn't have much footy smarts. Has had a few good games for us, but there are plenty of blokes who can play his role (HBF/Wing) who are better players (which says something, since we have stuff all depth).

pedo is basically the 23rd man and will proably play rd 1

nicho is isaac smith , except extremely shit
i would be amazed if he even made a vfl list

thanks for getting back to me guys!
Pedo as 23rd man sounds about right. I loved watching him at Box Hill, a huge heart and no fear!
I hadn't realised Nicho's kicking was so bad, I just remember seeing him breaking the lines on quite a few occassions.
Good luck with the trade period!

HF: JKH Hogan Salem
FF: Kent Dawes Pedersen
R: Jamar Tyson N Jones

I/C: Cross Fitzpatrick/Gawn Viney Toumpas

EMG: Bail, Clark(?), Riley

Here's hoping for big preseasons from Toumpas and Salem. I see Toumpas playing mostly off half-back, hopefully getting back his full running ability and being able to sprint from defensive 50 to offensive 50 linking up plays, hitting targets, kicking long-range goals, taking contested marks forward, etc, which were his strengths as a junior. If Salem can run out entire games that'll be significant too. Trengove is an unknowable entity. With so many of our players it's really just a bonus at this stage if they come good (Watts, Trengove, the Trinity, etc) so at least there's no expectations. The forward line at least looks somewhat promising with JKH to come back hopefully fitter and Kent and Fitzpatrick showing good signs toward the end of last year.

In an ideal world Hogan would start at CHB but given that we already have three tall defenders and our goalkicking situation is dire he'll have to play forward. Pedersen and Dawes (and Fitzpatrick) will hopefully give him a chop-out. Another target like Clark (please God) would be huge. As good of a contested mark as Pedo is he doesn't scream danger.

If we draft and trade well just rotate Salem, JKH, Toumpas and Kent through the VFL. If we pick McCartin just leave him in the VFL for the first half of the year, if not until he's 10 feet tall, 200kg and more physically intimidating than The Rock. He and Hogan can job share.

I honestly believe that with a full pre-season, Tyson can step up and challenge Jones' status as the best player on the team.

Also Grimes needs to be dropped from captaincy.

Needs to work on his kicking under pressure and his work-rate, particularly defensively.
