Fascinating presentation, and notable for me was the absolute dearth of movement after say Coleman retired and before the start of the 70's when Hudson, McKenna and Wade started making big inroads. The 50's and 60's were very low scoring and defensive, maybe the out of bounds on the full rule introduced in 1969 changed that up a bit. Plugger, Dunstall and Gazza all rising up to the top-5 in the same era was quite exciting, and the top-10 now sees Peter McKenna at 874. With Hawkins, Reiwoldt and Josh Kennedy (WCE) all 33-34 y/o, I'm not sure any of these players will break into that elite grouping. This graphic might remain pretty much unchanged for quite a while to come. Perhaps a top 20 chart might show some more movement in the lower reaches. With footy played the way it is today though the top-10 is almost set now.
It was interesting watching Dunstall and Lockett duke it out on the way to the top, with Dunstall taking the lead in the 800s and then Lockett storming home.
