The Allies moved quickly to take the club out of the dismal failure of the Dipper years & to re-assert their dominance with a new & proven captain.
New recruit Rave Slave takes over the running of the Test side in a move that can only improve the club's chances of taking home the 2007 premiership.
Former Allies captain Dipper conceded that 'ultimatley my tenure as Allies captain was based on arrogance, self regard, a lack of respect for the opposition, the competition, the game of fantasy cricket in general & even my own teammates. It's a recipe that lifted one premiership but that floundered as time went on.We became more than a cricket club, we became a Hollywood soap opera, merely winning cricket matches was never enough for us, we wanted to sign every star player, to dominate every discussion, to outsledge every opponent, to make more people cry & doubt themselves than any other club could manage, we wanted to humiliate our opponents & humiliate our own players who weren't good enough.
But at the end our dominance of the competition became unhealthy & it had to stop.
For my failure to lead us to our goals I have no option to fall on my sword, it's a matter of honour that to some is seen as a sign of weakness but as only FBF seems to understand without personal integrity we are nothing.
I wish to thank the many fine players who've been part of our winning culture over the years, there's been a steady stream of champions wearing the Baggy Pink & I've no doubts that if everyone stays on board then our list for 2007 is our best ever, for the first time we can put out an XI of pure international players.Despite the failure of our 2006 camapaign we were the Test minor premiers & finished 2nd in the one dayers, whether we choked in the finals or were cut down by outside influeneces, we shall never know but we can be proud of our regular season form.
I urge you all to get behind Rave, he's the real deal as a captain.Hilly was of course next in line but he turned the job down, he'll stay on as our one day leader. The decision to go with Rave was based on the fact that we need someone who can keep the side together, who can lead from the front, fight our corner in the murky political world of BFFC administration & of course he's a proven tactical innovator.
He's a lot like me except he's not such a c*** & he probably won't criticise you all as much I did.To be honest I couldn't stand any of you,the only one I liked was ant, you were all just pawns in a game being played in my head & it was a monumental effort to be as polite to you all as I was.So my advice is to for you all to stay on & for Craig Ryan to still come accross, I know that Rave is mad keen to get you on board & bat one side of you in the order.
As for me I've joined DE & I'm gonna beat that bunch of losers into a winning finals making outfit if it kills me.'
