That reminds me of all the "Port 2007 Premiers!" merchandise the AFL Store in town was trying to get rid of after 119. I wish I had bought some now. So I am guessing its the same thing hahahaha.

When you think about it, that Nth Melbourne era was as good as any ever and we got inbetween it, no we didn't just get inbetween it, we ruined it.

Thank god they got rid of that ridiculous finals system where you could finish 5th get annihilated in the first week & get a second chance  ...........madness

God damn I wish I owned that.

My wife, her whole family and my own brother are all Kangas fans.

Its good enough having the 98 flag over them, but that hat would top it off (literally) for me perfectly.

It makes me want to get my hands on a New England 19-0 shirt.
Though, I might have to go to Central America to get that. I think Reebox donated it to homeless kids in Guatamela or something.

Or even worse, thank god they got rid of that ridiculous system whereby you rock up on GF day with 4 key players you paid to stay out of the draft..Madness.

I would actually pay serious money to get hold off "Port 2007 Premiers" merchandise.

Nah doesn't hurt at all you took advantage of a flawed system at the time so well done

pointless debate.

if the system wasnt the two lowest ranked losers exiting the finals, then 4th vs 5th wouldnt have played. which means we wouldnt have played melbourne at the MCG in week one. we would have played at home against team #8. and we would never have lost that first game. who knows how things would have panned out after that.

Unless the extremely unlikely happened, and 2 out of the top 3 lost in week 1, 5th place was designed to always get the double chance under that system. No idea why it's such a sticking point for everyone. Hell, in 1999 Carlton finished 6th, lost by 12 goals in week 1 and still made the Grand Final. No one mentions that.

And nobody mentions the 'flawed system' where you could get knocked out of the finals, but still win the flag under the challenge rule, or the 'flawed system' where you could buy whoever you want.

Nobody will refer to the old 'flawed system' when they finally do away with the father son rule.

If they change the system in future so that there is no second chance, does the current system become flawed as the top 4 can lose in the first week and keep playing?

Nobody mentions those because those aren't burning them up inside. People hate that we won the flag in 1998, it really gets to them :)

The same "flawed" system had us travelling 5 weeks in a row to win that flag, but rationalize it any way you like.

What's the most number of consecutive weeks Port have travelled during a finals series?

Sounds a bit like the system where two non-Victorian teams finish first and second and second was forced to play a "home" prelim final at the MCG on Saturday night.

Thank god they got rid of that system as it provided an almost insurmountable advantage to the top side.

They do that every year, print winner's merch for both sides and donate the loser's to a developing country. Same with the NBA IIRC. Otherwise they'd never have all the stuff to put on right after the game.

I agree although 'an almost insurmountable advantage' is a bit of a stretch
