Hi all,

As much as Saturday was a dispointment in terms of the result I think the future is looking good. We are coming along nicely. The effort from the boys all day was great. It was a little disapointing to allow the Hawks some breathing space in the last quarter, but we did so well to get back into it. I don't think I've ever experienced so many emotions in one game, especially the elation of Fevola's mark and the heart shattering feeling when Fevola hit the post.

As the title to this thread suggests something has obvisiouly pissed me off.

It was around the 24th minute mark, when we were 4 goals down. All I could see around me were Carlton fans leaving, packing their bags and I could hear some mutter at how disapointed they were with the effort. Pathetic. Can the players leave the ground early? No.

I guess it's ones choice to leave early, and it wasn't the first time it's happened and it will not be the last time.

What really pissed me off was some of the supporters attitude towards or team and players. If a player made a mistake they would call for him to be dropped or at some cases they wanted him shot. If the player did something wonderful they'd be calling him the god.

Enter Fevola. He takes the mark. The loud mouth, drunken Carlton supporters behind me " FEVVVVV YOU ARE A GUN. YOU ARE A SUPERSTAR, A LEGEND!'. Fevola misses the goal. With that they change their attitudes 'YOU ARE SHIT FEVOLA. NEVER BEEN ANY GOOD. SHOULD BE DROPPED. GO DIE.'

Sure I was pissed off too. I'm sure you were too, and I'm sure every singal fan was. The players, the coaches and Fevola himself would have been too. There was no need to shout abuse at him. There are little kids out there who still idolise Fevola regardless of what happened. I still think he is a legend.

Fevola has done some bad things. I read today's article about giving Fevola credit. He has won many more games off his own boot compared to losing them. Who can forget that goal against Adelaide? Who can forget the times he has singal handly destryed Collingwood? The Fevola we all love will be back.

Go Blues!

PS. Fevoal kicked a bag on Saturday. When he kicks a bag he usually has a purple patch. We play Collingwood soon. :thumbsu: :) :D

Noticed the same thing mate. There was a whole group of Carlton supporters that left when Hawthorn got 25 points up late in the final quarter. I was a little shocked, but hey, it was their choice to leave.

I really wasn't expecting us to get over the line, but we finished the game so well, it was truly a great experience to see the finish to this game - despite the result.

I noticed all the Fev bashing too, and as I stated in another thread, no Carlton supporter has the right to have a go at him. The boys were brilliant on the weekend and when i saw some people leave when we were 25 points down I was embarrassed. In previous years I would have left early too but that was because the players showed little effort on the day. These people are the same people who jumped off the bandwagon when we were down and now that we're 'back' they jump back on.

I would never leave a game early. I live in Perth and i have seen carlton play at the MCG once!! One time in my whole life. i have seen them play a fair few times in perth where im outnumbered 40 000 to 10 and it sucks ass. i have seen Carlton lose by 130 points to West Coast and i still stayed. (the game i saw in Melbourne was at the G vs Richmond last year when we won, ill never forget it. I play footy on Saturday and when i watched the replay and saw blues fans leaving i was shitty because they have the oppurtinity i do not, and they dont want to support the team 100%. And someone afterwards said ''haha fevola cant kick, hes a hack'' my response was that we would have never been in that position in that game if not for his input in the previous 120 minutes, or our club would not be in the same position if he had not brought forward the confidence of kicking to a dominat full forward last year and mostly for the last three. IMO Fevola is a hero and our club will become better after that loss. Always keep the FAITH.

Hi all,

If a player made a mistake they would call for him to be dropped or at some cases they wanted him shot. If the player did something wonderful they'd be calling him the god.

Sounds like this place every night after a game.

I like to leave big events early sometimes such as this simply to avoid traffic hassles. It is also not enjoyable watching your team lose (Has no one ever turned the tv off in the last quarter, or stopped listening to the radio in anger ever?)

In this instance, I know I was pretty dissapointed - we were right in it at 3qrt-time and let it blow out. Coming back like we did in the final 10 mins are pretty rare - of course if Fev kicks that goal its easy to point fingers, but what if the Hawks had slammed on another 3 instead?

Hardly think its disgraceful, just personal choice. If they're at the game in the first place, then they must have some commitment to the club - regardless of what comments they may make in the heat of the moment.

Surely the week before told these people to STAY IN THEIR SEATS.

We might of lost but I'm bloody happy that I got to witness the full game.

To me staying until the end and letting the disappointment sink in while opposition supporters cheer make the wins that much sweeter.

Every team has supporters who leave the game early. I've never left a game and would feellike crap if I did. But it is personal choice.

Normally the people who leave early are the ones who the week before were waving goodbye to dogs supporters.:p I can't stand people who wave off other supporters.

Not me. Never miss a minute of any game, whether at the ground, watching on TV or listening on the radio. The minute I don't watch will be the time something really special happens, and I'll miss it. Like Thy said, Army getting the ball to Fev was one of these reasons why I never tune out.

Can I offer an alternate theory for at least SOME fans who got up out of their seats when the Hawks went up by 25 points.

I was one of those, as part of a premeditated plan to get home at a reasonable time (for babybears 2nd birthday dinner) who got up from my seat in the Olympic stand and went downstairs and watched the closing minutes from the standing room section.

While this obviously won't explain all, or even a majority of those leaving their seats, i can assure you that I was not alone. I'd say 75% of people getting off the escalator in front of me turned right and went into watch the games conclusion rather than leave.

Usually I don't bother unless I need to make good time home, but for many its about beating the traffic, and they aren't all necessarily exiting. Obviously this doesn't apply for anyone in the lower levels leaving. They should be shot.:D

As for the player criticism.......it is an emotional ride, and when you cross raw emotion with low intelect you often get the type of drivel that is shouted from the cheap seats.

Hell.....jump into every second new thread on here after a loss and you'll see far worse.

Never - ever. Briefly, the obvious reason is missing a last gasp win. But as I have said so many times here and after dark in selected public toilets, when you are being hammered by the opposition or at least are definitely going to lose, it is those games where you will see who really plays for the jumper. Good on you guys for staying to listen to our song!! Would have served those who left right if Fev had nailed that last goal. Would have been one of your great wins of the last few years.

Bad luck on the day fellas hope to have another cracker against you guys in Sept. Also as much as I have been known to bag the odd Carlton player on Bay 13... I think you have an ABSOLUTE BEAUT in M Kreuzer. Has put on a nice bit of size in the last 12 months. DEAN COX II

Unfortunately I wasn’t at the game on Saturday but if I was, I would’ve left when we hit 25 points down. I’m a paid up member and should be able to choose when I leave a game.

In 20 years of attending the footy I have left before the final siren whilst my team was losing on many occasions and have only been caught out once from a flukey comeback. I couldn’t think of anything worse that watching my side play okay footy to suddenly pull their finger out and still loose. It reeks of desperation and a sub standard commitment.

I also don’t understand how some people continue to praise B Fevola. Sure he can win us games but this year he has cost us one too many times. To top it off why shouldn’t I be able to bag some of our players. I have had to witness their inconsistent performances for some time now. There is only so much a person can take.

So it's possible you're leaving? :(

Yeah.......8 goals 4 behinds.......pathetic.

Off with HIS HEAD!!

Mr Armfield come on down!:thumbsu:

Glad to see somebody bring his name up, his continual effort even when we were 25 points down to keep attacking the game was one of the main reasons we were able to get back in the game. Might not be the most talented player going around but he gives 120% for 120mins

I thought all the boys kept plugging away even when the chips were down 20mins into the last, two three years ago a 25 point margin 20 mins into the last qtr would've been a 40 point loss against a side like Hawthorn, heck i'm no bandwagon supporter but even i left early on a number of occasions during the dark days (half time was my best effort in the game against Richmond when we were 70 points down at the half, the lack of effort that day was disgusting! I couldnt watch it was that bad, but I always kept fronting up the week after for more pain knowing one day it would turn!!)

Long story short, two three years ago 25 points down in the last i would've left too, these days its alot different and the thought never crosses my mind, this group is very resilient, they were a bees dick away from pulling off a miraculous comeback, as much as that poster hurt we can take alot out of how the boys kept fighting back. When we are the bullies of the comp in a year or two that mentallity will hold us in very good stead!

You never ever leave early.

If you have to leave early to beat traffic, attend a party, catch a train, etc etc then don't bother coming in the first place as clearly the Blues are not your #1 priority for that day.

There is nothing sweeter than when you have victory sewn up and you see the opposition supporters leaving early (especially the Colliwobble supporters) and you can give them a wave and bid them adieu. This is reason enough to not give opposition fans the joy of seeing us Blues fans depart prematurely.

I want to say why I disagree with this - I really do.

However with that name and location, I can only bow down to you :thumbsu:
