I wouldnt mind us giving this guy a rookie spot next year. What do others think?

By all accounts has had a good year for Coburg. Saw his game on the weekend and must say i was very impressed. Good pace, knows how to find the ball and can win it in traffic. Good vision and seems to have decent decision making and foot skills. Also seems to be a run all day,. rack it up type player (and we could use another). Only just turned 20 y.o.

That run down on the wing was something that really stood out.

Found a couple of threads on him from the drafts and trading board pre 2006 draft. Many thought he was likely to be a 3rd/4th rounder.

Main knock on him seems(ed) to be his height. Granted 175cm isnt a plus, but there are plenty of players that have had excellent careers at that height.

Here is a list (and this doesnt include small forwards, which is another role he might play as a defensive small)

Peter Bell 175
Brent Harvey 172
Chance Bateman 174
Shane Crawford 174
Rodan 172
Schneider 175
Braun 175
Wirrapunda 173

And others who are <180cm (really whats 2-3 cm for a guy who is mostly in an under anyway?)

Daniel Kerr 178
Aker 177
Scott West 178
Luke Power 179
Tyson Edwards 177
N Foley 177
T Lockyer 178
Medhurst 179
Leon Davis 177
Marc Murphy 179
Sam Mitchel 178
Rick Ladson 179
Paul Chapman 179
Matthew Stokes 179
Brett Ebert 179
Matt White 179
Leigh Montagna 177
Craig Bird 177
Keiren Jack 177

I think we could do a lot worse than this kid for a rookie spot. Seems to have an excellent work ethic and would be worth a punt IMO

Your thoughts?

yeah but we already seem to have a lot of short and also light bodied players. Would be surprised if he went anywhere really.

Nick Carnel anyone? I think he is still the best prospect at Coburg even though he is probably getting on now. I was really hoping big Chris Stward (195cm 95kg) would dominate Coburg this year so we could draft him. Ohwell.

I don't partically want to look at Keogh. He is very light on and his kicking suspect.

McErlain and Liddle might also be looked at. Morris (broth of Dale) who went down early in the year look like a really good prospect but won't even get looked at now. If Fort Curuso had Nat Caruso's size he would be on our list by now. I'm not sure what happened to Joe Gazzo but he looks off the table too now

Earlier this year on SEN Greg Miller said it was Richmonds intention to elavate a player (like Sylvester) each year so the Coburg listed play players know they can get a crack at the big time if they work hard enough. This year Horne has achieved that and it would be great to see.
Greg Miller no longer has any input into list management. That policy may change.

Unfort when a player is of that stature, means they must be REAL good, to compensate....not sure that he has stood out to suggest he could put himself into class of those above

Nat Caruso anyone????
Very hard at it, gives his all and the times i've watched coburg play he has gone alright and is usually a good user of the pill..:thumbsu:
