Was coming back from injury through coburg when he did a hammy back early july. Dont know if he is back playing at coburg yet but I wouldnt expect to see him in the ones this year.

Right to go next year though.

Posted this on another thread...

"Andrew Raines copped a lot of flak last year due to his poor disposal and decision-making but as we saw yesterday, many of his better credentialed Tiger mates are capable of folding under pressure the same way when under the pump!

I used to hate Raines' turnovers as well but when he concentrated on shutting down his opponent, he was often quite effective.
(Remember he toweled up Ricciuto in our 2006 win)

So... perhaps a Raines recall? Gulp...
:o"

I'm starting to think that Raines could slot back into the back half after our efforts recently!
(Probably just more of an indicator of how poor our execution has been however)

The one thing I really liked about Raines was his ability to stick to his man like glue. Had a red hot go all the time too.

Unfortunately his deficiencies are glaring and in our game plan that is a big big problem

After having seen Jake King in the last two weeks (and a few of his performances before that) I'm convinced Raines has a place as a defensive small defender.
One thing I know - that dog Milne wouldn't have kicked 7 on Raines.

Agree Tug,

For all his faults, at least Rainesy was good size who acknowleged he actually had a man. He occasionally got a beltin, like against LeCras last year, but he also showed promosing signs against Riewoldt and Riccutto.

Just needs to work on his skills and decesion making.

I think he's worth persevering with for another year.
And if he goes OK, at least he's good currency for GC17.

Correct. The difference between Rainesy's best and worst was minimal. King has been shocking hte last few outings. Raines is not able to be exploited like King.

Bull crap teams always tried to exploit Raines, don't you remember them always trying to bring him back to the square. Raines would not be in a grand final team. Simply not good enough! Bookmark this thread!
