He is my fav player by a long way and i just love the way he plays..
Is there any chance he could be a future captain of our club?
His leadership already is outstanding..

Thoughts on him being a future captain

Also What Position Do You Play Him In?

Not IMO, the three possible future captains in my eyes are....

Brent Stanton
Angus Monfries
Jobe Watson

and out of the draftees - Gumby and Sloppy

Say Lloyd retires in 4 years by that time Welsh will be 28. I think we would want a younger captain unless the player in question is a long time star (ie. Lloyd).
I agree with Matt Davies.
You could probably add Houli to that list too.

Hille has the captaincy settled in once lloyd leaves so he wont get the chance. he is also my second favourite player
i personally think mcveigh would make a better captain than hille and welsh not far behind but yeah hille is the captain unless he does something really stupid which seems unlikely

Id consider Watson as captain material. Very well spoken and educated young man. Great pedigree and a genuine thinker of the game. Just needs to be more confident in the media spotlight. Was very impressed with his interview on Before The Game a couple of weeks ago.

Also he was the one who stood up after 1/2 time (missing Lloyd and Hird).

nope, but he's certainly playing a lot better this year, and I'm up to my 3rd slice of humble pie.

keep it up woosh.

I would be suprised if Hille wasn't next in line for the role.

Welsh is a good player, but i dont think he would get the nod for captain.

I reckon Slatts may be considered in 4 years time assuming he keeps developing along the GOD lines.

Doubt Hille will be our next captain I think Laycock will be our number one ruckmen in the next few years.

You know you have played a game of footy if your on Welshy which is what I like most about him, he would be in the thoughts of Sheedy for our next captian, theres no real stand outs I don't think for our next captain just yet.

When he first arrived at the club there seemed to be a buzz around him and his leadship potential. Not too sure if he ever will lead the club, but a few excellent seasons could put him in that position.

I suspect that our next Captain decision by whoever is our coach at the time. If it is still Sheeds then I am sure he would have his own opinion.

I'm just hoping that if we do have a different coach that he doesn't believe in the multiple captains crap..

Multiple captains would take away from the honour of theose players who have made captain until now.

Jobe Watson for future captain :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Can play inspirational football at times, can start to be moulded into the role and is an out and out Essendon person.

Would love to see Jobe captaining the don's to a flag

The only thing that I'm less than convinced about with Watson in regard to captaincy is his laid back nature. It doesn't affect his football, but when the captain is relaxed as Jobe on matchday, it can affect the football of those who need a high intensity environment ot thrive.

If Lloydy was to retire now, I'd be pushing for Mark McVeigh. He's a confident personality, will back his teammates in every time and is still only 26.
