I'm having the problem that's mentioned in this thread: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1584822
These messages occur at a rate of about 20 every 10 minutes and sometimes I am pressing 'cancel' for 2 minutes straight as this is the only way to temporarily stop them. I'd be forever grateful if anyone could tell me how to stop them.

I am using a HTC Wildfire.

I should have asked what OS u are on first... ginger bread, icecream sandwich. Or jellybean?

Icecream Sandwich (4.0.3)

Try this

Navigate to Messages
Press Menu then Settings
Scroll down to and untick the CB Messages option...

Can't see any option for CB Messages.
When I go into the settings for 'Messages', I get menus for 'Notifcations', 'Text messages', 'Multimedia messages' and 'General'.

Those god awful phones don't have an official ICS update, so you're either not running ICS, or you've modded it.

Make sure you're checking for the setting in the standard android SMS app and not a 3rd party one.
