Listening to these two fools talk about free agency yesterday got me thinking.

Why do we the fans have to put up with two idiots that haven't educated themselves on the rules, or are too stupid to understand them. The problem is, they have on obligation to at least have some idea about.

In a five minute conversation on air the following wrongs were communicated to the general public.

1. Brett Deledio is a free agent . Wrong
2. Brett Deledio will attract free agency compensation. Wrong
3. Brett Deledio will attract a draft pick as compensation for free agency after Geelongs pick, not Richmond . Also wrong

I mean, it isn't that hard is it?

The average footy fan understands the rules, and we have the chief footy writer of the biggest newspaper in the land completely ignorant of the rules. And his sidekick Andy Maher, nodding his head in agreement like slack jaw troglodyte.

Its completely ridiculous , we deserve better

You can apply the same rule to commentators not knowing the rules too.

Holding the ball, prior opportunity and the concept that a player only has to attempt to dispose of the ball without prior opportunity is far too complicated for most in today's media.
