I for one have loved Clarko's last two conferences - post and pre game.

He loves his players and has fired multiple shots at some of the worst examples of anti Hawthorn media hysteria

I suspsect he was a big reason for yesterday's turn around - boys shove their words where they don't shine!

He's exactly the guy you want around when you're under performing

The thing is, it's a pity it has to be done, but somebody has to get stuck into the media. Cyril would possibly be the least offensive player in the AFL, and also the least likely to defend himself. He's an easy target, and the cowards in the media know this. 100% support for any coach sticking up for his players. That will never change. The media aren't about to hold Carey or anyone else to account because then they too will be held to account. You can imagine for Robinson or Ralph how damaging accountability would be to their careers so they're certainly not about to start expecting it of others.

As for the media holding the AFL accountable, that will never happen either. The AFL certainly aren't above blocking access to journos who speak negatively about them so to do so would be career suicide.

Clarkson is one of very few who can call journos to account. Most coaches tread lightly because they know the media can ruin careers. Take Damien Hardwick for example - the blowtorch should have been shone on him pretty intensely last year but because he has Robinson in his back pocket he escaped a lot of media attention. If Hardwick had been one to criticise the media though, they would have been all over him last year. Clarkson knows though that his record speaks for itself and no matter what they write about him, he is safe in his job.

Classic, when Hawthorn have been going into GF's media scuttlebutt has been about Clarko leaving Hawthorn because he is so good - never happened. We have a poor start to the season and then they say he has to leave because he no good. He knows first hand they are clutching at straws trying to justify their jobs. He just gets on with doing his (and defending our players is part of that job).

Clarko was great calling him out, should be more of it. The football media should be under more scrutiny

Any of those clowns could be replaced tomorrow and know one would care.

They criticize people for a living yet if someone has a go at them they all carry on like a crime has been committed.
