Hi Just interested in an animation program.
Has any one used any recomend any .

As in animated gifs, etc ?

Adobe Flash, Adobe ImageReady, Corel animation shop 3 are just a few of the more well known applications that will serve you well

If you are going for 2d animation, Flash is the big one. You can also do stuff with After Effects, but that’s more specialised and better suited as a composting program. You can improve your flash animations in it if you want.

3D... well it depends on how much effort you want to put into it. For shits and giggles, use Poser. If you want to start building up for a career and willing to put some serious time and effort into learning an application, then start with a program like 3DS Max. It's not as powerful as Maya, but the interface is friendlier for a beginner. Lightwave and XSI are also industry standards.

There would also be a wide variety of crap programs for free that might do the level of things you are after if you don’t like 'legally acquiring' expensive professional software. I can't name them though sorry, its not my area.
