I attended the Cox Plate on Saturday

When leaving some of the behaviour of the cabbies was astonishing. One couple in hteir 50's were in a canb whilst the driver stood there on the street screaming at them "Get out! I am not taking you to Northcote"

Meanwhile others were demanding $50 to go to Brunswick or the city

I booked my uber from Moonee Valley to Brunswick, paid $14 and was picked up within 3 minutes.

The only way I'd use a cab is if my phone battery was dead.

Have seen the same stuff from cab drivers outside heaps of events. Leaving Rod Laver arena after a show last year, there was a cab driver literally yelling from his car "$50 MINIMUM NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE GOING! $50 MINIMUM!"

Disgusting behaviour.

Old school class warfare. Uber sucks for the contractors workers. Cab driving isn't a great job, but Uber isn't improving that situation. I'm only scraping under that age bracket by a couple of months, so maybe that's it. I don't mind cabs, they are generally fine.

I can respect that, but unfortunately all of the big Victorian taxi companies like Silvertop, Crown, and (unfortunately) 13 Cabs aren't famous for treating their drivers well either.

Yeah the.only downside using Uber is when they are enroute and you've been tracking them on your phone the last 5 minutes and they are 100 feet away and they cancel.

I've heard stories of that happening to others, but have never experienced it myself. Can imagine it'd be super annoying when it happens though, for sure.

It's the other reason I don't use Uber. Literally my first Uber experience was this happening to me, twice for the same trip, when I was in a hurry. fsck that.

Taxis suck. Uber sucks. Having a car isn't that great. Public transport is restrictive and involves sitting with other people. I think kangaroos have the best transport method of anyone, to get honest

Mazda was front and back of jumper sponsor since what? 2009?
If they are front only does that mean they signed on for less money if Chiq is taking the back of jumper spot?

I'm sure it would've found it's way out to the great delight of the media if that were the case.

I imagine Mazda were getting a very sweet deal for all the exposure.

Amazing what we can find on the Google.

Mazda is now a co-partner. So there was a change from 2022 into the extension announced earlier this year but its that Mazda will share the jumper space.
I think they were gifted the back in 2009 as Vodafone stepped in for 1 season only in 2008 as a favour to JB

2025

CHiQ has inked a strategic partnership with the North Melbourne Football Club. Over the 2026 and 2027 seasons, CHiQ will be the club’s co-major partner for the AFL and platinum partner for the AFLW. This partnership follows the announcement that Mazda will continue its 25 years of sponsorship, however, as a co-partner.

2022

"As part of the agreement, Mazda will continue as the sole major partner of both the AFL and AFLW programs, as they continue their commitment to the growth of women’s football."

2025

"The latest extension will see Mazda continue its support through to the end of 2028 as the club’s co-major partner across AFL and AFLW."

2009

"The North Melbourne Football Club is delighted to confirm Mazda will continue as its sole major sponsor for the next two years.

The deal ensures the Mazda logo will continue to be displayed on the front and back of the club's jumper.

“Mazda is thrilled to extend its support as full major sponsor of the North Melbourne Football Club. This agreement takes our partnership into a second decade and in that time, the relationship has grown and prospered each and every year,” said Mazda Managing Director Doug Dickson."

How are they actually still in business? I asked the bloke to use the meter during the mid year Perth bonanza, thinking I was being sharp. The meter started at $7 and two km later it was at $23. I watched its rapid increases in horror as the bloke told me about Zambia. I don't remember much about Zambia but I certainly remember the number on the meter.

Granted, it was near the airport, but still. I know their app based price locks are rubbish too, from experience. They limbo under the bar that Uber have set
