I would like it if any Baptists on here could help me with a few questions on their faith. The internet is a load of crap for finding info on them.

Describe the Baptists mass or church service?
What are the Baptists basic beliefs, sacraments ect.

Any help would be greatly apprechiated.

By tradition in Australia, the Baptists have been relatively conservative. However, in America there are some "breakaway" Baptist churches that are fairly out there.

Baptists traditionally follow the Bible to the letter. We believe that followers of Christ should demonstrate their faith through being Baptised (immersed in water) as John was doing in Jesus' early days and to Jesus Himself. No one is pressurised into doing this and is certainly NOT a requirement to follow Christ or attend a Baptist church. The Baptist church I attend is very modern, upbeat songs and very youthful and lots of young families...looking around 700 in the 3 services during the day with a large band. However, their is a Baptist church in the next suburb that is extremely conservative, older hyms, organ etc. Not that their is anything wrong with that!!

As with most denominations, there are usually differrences amongst`different churches but on the whole, particularly in Australia, the Baptist movement is strong and ultimately believes that Christ is the son of God and is God in the Holy Trinity...Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Hope that kind of helps you!
Cheers,
Matt

Gday again mate, is this all for an assignment? I'm only too happy to help where I can!

The head of a Baptist church is call the Senior Pastor (can be Reverend), then you have Associate Pastors with the number depending on the size of the Church. We have 2 Full-time Associate Pastors and a Full-time Children's Ministry worker.

"Worshippers" are encouraged to become members of the church which is involved the decision making of the church. There is also a board of usually 6-8 Deacons who are members elected to work with the Pastoral team to make decisions etc. and bring them before the member body as a whole for a vote.

Hope that helps,
Matt
