Sorry if its been done, just wondering if there are any musos in this thread?
Ive been singing, playing piano and trombone for about 12 years now, studying music at uni...have just started up a jazz band looking for some gigs. anyone else in similar positions?

i've played guitar for about 6 months... i started with some lessons from my cousin, but i've been teaching myself lately... but i'm going to get a proper guitar teacher soon...

Yep, I play French Horn.

I had offers from different places to go and study but about 2 months ago I decided I didn't want to to it for a living, after saying that I wanted to for the last 5 years.

Oh well.

Well studying first, then going into orchestral playing.
I haven't given it up, I'm still playing, but after the years of everyone wanting me to do it and having all this expectation I decided to give myself a break. I was stressing out and not enjoying it like I used to. I didn't touch it for almost a month and it was the best thing I ever did.
I enjoy it more now, without having to stess about doing my 4 hours of practice a night and 6 each weekend. Who needs that at 19?
I'm now planning a trip O/S and that's something I wouldn't have been able to do had I taken up the offer.
I may get involved in community orchestra's or bands in the future, but now I just play for myself :) My family didn't see it that way, but meh... they'll cope.

Depending on how much beer and pizza i've drunk and eaten, my wind can sound reminicent of Neil Young's voice. It really is quite a talent.

Oh, and i've played drums for about 14 years, professionally for about 9.

Wow, fair play to you mate. I used to be able to do a decent BB King out of my other end, but understandably the demand for it at parties and social gatherings has taken it's toll.

Taught myself how to play guitar over the past few years - I'm handy/respectable, but that's about it. Lots of fun though

I used to play the drums but in the end i just couldn't be bothered with lessons. Also i desperately needed money for a car so i sold my drums. I'm thinking of doing vocals in a band though.

Started on the piano @ age 6, Guitar from 8 (now 20) which is all i play now and play in a original band, and starting a few acoustic cover type bands too. Currently getting lessons, planning on studying music @ uni in the next few years and have worked with some top mucians and management in different forms.

Looking towards vocal lessons in the near future too.

I've played keyboard since I was 4, piano since I was 10, clarinet and bass clarinet since I was 14 and sung since I was 8 and I'm not even 20 yet! I'm not doing as much as I used to though cos uni takes up far too much of my time :(

Drummer for 18 years. Lately I have been teaching myself how to play guitar, bass, and keys for the purpose of learning composition, production, and recording skills.

I play in two Melbourne bands with lots of potential and really big ambitions. I guess we'll see where that gets us.

I've been accepted into a major diploma of audio production course but I'm currently mulling over whether I want to spend all that money and go through with it or take a shorter certificate course, which is more for dabblers.

I'm not entirely sure what direction I'd like to go in. Ultimately I'd like to be able to do TV/film composition or produce commercial music if I can't be in a successful band.

I've played bass in a few bands for over 10 years now. I'm only playing in one band now (Naked Eye) who has had a fair bit of press overseas but we are pretty slack in getting shows. If you're really bored here's our website:

The old band I was in was the Casanovas who seem to be doing pretty well (what with an ARIA nomination and the like). I left the band as their schedule was a bit too full on for me.

I played guitar and Blues harmonica in my year 12 Group music VCE performance. (I also sang but I'm not claiming THAT as anything particularly inspiring in a musical sense.)

I used to play mandolin in an Irish band just after I left High school.

Me and a friend had a gig as an acoustic duo for about six months in 2001-02.

Used to play Trumpet at high school, gave it up but I still have one, it's on loan at the moment but I'm busting to get it back for another go at teaching myself.

I play anything and everything that doesn't require you to blow air through it, and I've been writing music professionally since I was 17.
