I don't know whether it was because I suck at looking at players when I'm at the game, or if my jester hat was on too tight, but I actually liked Russell's game.

I know he missed an easy shot in the first, but everybody did. Still, I enjoyed watching him.

i agree, riewoldt was one of the more influential players on the ground. waite was one of the WOGs unfortunately. he had a shocker. he was moved off riewoldt as he was simply too good for him and jamison moved onto riewoldt and did ok.

judd, gibbs and betts are the only three that can hold their heads high.

anderson and edwards: both of their careers are at the crossroads. Anderson is very unimpressive and Edwards is shite.
bullshit mate joey looks a lot better than wiggins who has played nearly 100games and russell who when he is under pressure makes errors 10 set shots for 9 behinds fair go boys joey must stay out wiggins, edwards, bentick( sorry to slow ) cloke to small for centre bounces looked piss weak tonight. we must play the hammer& the juddster is a ledgend and well bryce mmmm a kid like this comes along once in a life time:thumbsu:

While Gibbs is a certainty for stardom Jamo is an extremely smart defender who no doubt will give forwards nightmares in the years to come. While I wasn't happy tonight I can sense I'll be s******ing after many matches in the years to come as this side develops into a serious finals contender.

Waite taken to school by Riewoldt. Saints played Waite very well - has great closing speed and would match Riewoldt on the lead had he been playing the roaming game he's played over the last fortnight, so instead they kept him inside 50, and absolutely thrashed Waite, who's body positioning was horrid (will only come with experience). The move to Jamison came much too late for mine. While Jamo doesn't have the closing speed of Waite, he was more than held his own against Riewoldt in a one on one contest and matched him on the lead. A leading Riewoldt presenting up the ground is significantly less dangerous than one taking marks within 40 metres of goal.

Was very pleased with Jamison's game - thought Riewoldt's size and athletic ability might be too much for him, but it's a testament to Jamison's defensive nous.

Gibbs was absolutely sensational - without doubt the most talented youngster at the club (and quite possibly in the competition).

Have to ask - when was the last time he kicked one? When does he ever give opposn anything to worry about? As we have several quality midfielders I don't know whether we have room for him as a total shutdown man and that aside his inability to kick or set up a goal leaves him out of my team

Gibbsy of course but this huge positive is wiped out by the realization that we cannot wait for our young rucks to mature or else half our guns will be past their best - we must get an accomplished ruck at any cost (the young guns will take us to our second premiership in our next era)
