Im actually not expecting to win this game against the pies. Dont get me wrong id love us to knock the pies off i just think we may lose the game. Having said that i do expect to win the next 3 against the Hawks, Eagles and the tigers. So after 4 rounds we are 3 wins and 1 loss...

Id like to think our season would be alive if we lost the first round.... After all Geelong lost to the Bulldogs in round 1 last year... Was there season over??? Dont think so....

If you lose to Collingwood does it mean your season is on the line in Round 2?

Yeah if we lose first round I'm tearing up my membership and lamenting another wasted season.

I don't think we could ever come back from a round one loss

Although, i dearly want my club to win, i can say this.
This could be real danger game for the pies.
If tarrant, farmer, pavlich cut loose,we could be in trouble.
During the early rounds a lot of upsets tend to happen, too hard to predict who is going to win and lose.
Anyway Go pies!!!!!!!!
Good luck freo.If your club is going to be a serious threat, this year,Freo must start winning most games away from your home ground.
Either way it will be a cracker of game.
Pies just,by 8 points in a thriller.

Not sure I heard it right on TV the other night, but, someone was saying we have never won the first round yet.Not sure if it is true.
But we will beat the Pies on Saturday. We have won 7 of our last ten at the G.
We also have beaten the Pies two out of the last three at the MCG,so why can't we win this one?

we are the only club in the AFL which every game is a "must win" and if we do win a few, the line is "still to be proven away from home/in big games/without key players" .

basically most of the vic media knows bugger all about us and rely on stereotypes and footage from 1997 to decide what tripe to write about us. i have noticed a big change since one of the vic heros in Harvey has taken over the top job.

any club at about rounds 8-10 with even win loss ratio can make the top 4 i reckon

Sorry I should have put a  or a :p at the end.

Just thought people would know I was being sarcastic.

Sorry RP,I wasn't sure.So many snipers around who want to get into the FFC so had to say something.

Won 4, lost 9. Was actually on top of the ladder once. (for about three hours)

NO....we need to make a statement this year & winning the first 5 or 6 games is the only way we will place our stamp on the competition (sorry if thats sounds too clich'e..ish!!)

We need a good start, if not to keep the vampires from the door but more for the belief of the players.

We don't "need" to make a statement by winning the first 5 or 6 games. That is completely unrealistic and you are setting yourself up for disappointment. We just want to win more than we lose in the first 6.

If we start the season with a win against the Pies, then excellent, if we don't we did not go in as favorites anyway. I just want us to be competitive at the very least. I tipped the Dockers, and generally believe we will win because I think we have a better team, but anything can happen.
