with Hentschel.

Good NAB cup form but since the "real" stuff has started he seems to have gone from bad to worse.

With Bock and Welsh (now Perrie) you would hope he would stick his hand up.

:(

Yes he is of the boil that is for sure.

Looked pretty soft in the last quarter. A couple of marks he should've gobbled up but dropped them with the body contact from his opponent. And his goal kicking has been shocking lately.

I'd give him a run in the SANFL - did the trick last year, but we really can't afford to at the moment.
He'll come good when Welshy and Bock are back in. Struggling playing on higher profile defenders I reckon.

Yeah, I agree he is inn a form slump at the moment.

Want to see improvement now the Sarge is out.

If we lose 1 more tall bloke we will be severely stretched this season.

Being played out of position.

Would and still could make a brilliant backman IMO

Agree with this. If Trent doesn't show much as a forward this year, I would consider permanently moving him to CHB in 2007. Looks a better CHB than Bock IMO.

Hmmm, thats a close call  Just one example, but Bock covered Nick Riewoldt brilliantly at the dome around the middle of last year. Hentschel then had the job on him in the final and was beaten. Not having Bock play that game, I would say pretty much cost us the game.

Thats only one example, but if he didnt improve up forward he could slot in nicely down back. But then, where would Bock play...remembering Torney is still out of the side.

Definately. Luke Jericho the 2nd at the minute.

And what happens to Nathan Bock when he comes back? trade? delist?

Play him (Nathan bock) as a forward where he has shown that he hasn't got the ability to constantly play at that level needed and perform at a constantly standard? As a defender at CHB he has clearly shown he can be an extremely valuable member of the side and allow the structure to take place. Trent Hentschel is just in a bit of a form slump and also shown he has the potential to be our number 1 forward so I would back him in and give him the confidence that he can step up.

I would leave him as a key forward at least until Bock comes back and allow McGregor to go back to CHF. Trent Hentschel would then move back to full forward or a forward pocket and hopefully start to show some form, If not before hand.

If Bock is played as a forward he will look just as ineffective as Hentschel is at the moment, but even Saturday morning people were talking about dropping Ken McGregor, my take on the situation is that too many supporters are simply fickle. At the moment there basically isn’t anyone else to come in the side and play CHF, so if I was NC I would tell him to back himself in and show the confidence in his own ability that he was demonstrating late last year and as a coaching panel we will back you in.

Trents problem is the same as Welshs' . They are both not ready to be the number 1 forward, or not good enough. With Bock back McGregor forward Hentschell and Welsh get the ''lesser'' defenders.

It will be ok

Yep he has been stinking it up big time lately. I think it might be time he started wearing a glove. He is dropping the undroppable at the moment.

Pull your finger out Rowdy

C'mon Stiffy - settle petal!! ;)

All players with ability have form lapses, but "stinking it up big time"? Aren't we being just a little too derogatory here??

He'll come good, mate. He's a good player just off the boil at the moment. :thumbsu:

Yep

How well was Kenny travelling until Saturday night? The kid will come good. It's not like we have a choice at the moment either.

No I am not because he has struggled every game this year and if we weren't in such a big trouble with the KPP he would be dropped. His form this time last year was better but he still got send back to SANFL.

I never said he was a bad player, in fact I have probably been his biggest fan over the years but IMHO he is not playing anywhere near the level that he can play at.

Yes he has been stinking it up big time this year. If there ever is a time for him to lift his game to another level now is that time. We need him to play well now more than ever before.

.

And this is the dilemma we face. Unfortunately both Bock and Trent appear to struggle when played up fortward. Rutts is also another who struggled when played in the forward line but looks sensational down back. I'm starting to think that, with Perrie and Welsh out, Kenny is our only real "proven" tall forward option. I would give Trent a few more weeks up forward before doing a straight swap with Kenny to the forward line and Trent down back. I have always thought Trent looks all class when played down back.

I thought Trent played Riewoldt really well in that final.

Was it more a problem of missing Bock the player or the loss of a KPP from our structure. Also, lets not underestimate the impact the loss of Roo had on our game.

He has been frustrating to say the least.

But my main concern is his run up when taking set shots for goal. Someone at the club has to work on it with him, it's one of the worst run ups I've seen.

Yeah! How many bloody steps does he take?

For mine, I still think he lacks the confidence and intensity to play as a forward. I just dont see him attack the ball the way that Sarge or Bass does. His mindset needs to improve.

I agree he would be better down back in the future, but right now everytime I see him in defence I keep thinking it is a soft option and a sign he is struggling.

He still doesnt like physical pressure. People have worked out if you man up on him closely he can be contained. He still has trouble shaking off his opponents.

He has put on a couple more tackles than usual, so he is looking at increasing his work rate up forward which is good. He could still run in harder to help out a team mate that is outnumbered or get down into a few packs.

I dont like him leading out wide as often as he does trying to kick the flukey goal. I think part of that problem is the coaching staff are still directing our forwards to run out wide. One area where we could help TH would be to smarten up our forward structure.

I will be keen to see of he can live up to the comments Kenny has made about him in today's paper.
