Similar I'd say. Contract ended and Mayne decided 'Whoa! Thank goodness that's over'

Whereas if Carlton were successful, I'd think they would've considered a contract extension.

Please explain The T.A.C leaving us along with Nubrik, Don Smallgoods, etc etc. I believe terms of contracts ended and both parties went their seperate ways, much like Mayne/carl.

Contracts go both ways.

What I'm saying is Carlton's lack of marketability was the likely reason that Mayne chose not to extend their contract.

The other ones you stated could have a number of different reasons. Since contracts are competitive tenders, and it's not just the decision of the sponsor, but the decision of the club as to who will get the best deal. Obviously with our (relative) degree of success over the last decade, and one of the largest supporter bases in Melbourne and perhaps Australia, we'd hold a lot more sway at a negotiating table with potential sponsors. What's to say that WE didn't give those companies the flick in favour of a better deal?

Also managed to pickup a '00 version essendon top with Lloyds number inprinted into the cotton (no iron sh*t) and a '99 version with Lucas's number on the back, one was $20 and the other was $40.

I remember them doing that as well. Spewing I didn't pick one up.

Nothing to do with it at all ....... carlton knew before the start of this year that Matne were not going to re-new their deal . the initial deal was done by Peter Smedley (a prominent Carltonian and one of the names bandied around for Prez last year) to lift the profile of Mayne's name when he took over as CEO ....

It was a 3 yr deal and was NEVER going to be anything else from Day 1.

How do i know this you ask ....'Cause until recently I worked for them :)

I was hoping there would be an off-season sale at the Bomber shop, but it doesn't look like there's going to be one. So I guess I'm stuck.

I'd really like an old Sekem wool guernsey but those seem to be impossible to find in adult sizes.

I've got one Steathy, complete with a Speed Kills sponsorship. Doesn't fit me though, might not fit you either.

Big Thanks to the boys at Bomberblitz.com for the only word I have heard about the sponsorship for 2004:

Three For Two : Monday, November 3rd, 2003

Essendon is set to announce that they have signed a new two year major sponsorship agreement with financially troubled telecommunications company Hutchinson Telecom in a deal worth more than $1.3 million per season under their "3" brand.

The Hong Kong based company has lost billions in the development and rollout of 3G phone technology but will persist with the "3" brand despite initial Australian takeup being well under initial projections.

In addition to their sponsorship of the Bombers, Hutchinson via "3" and "Orange" brands is also is the major sponsor of the Australian Cricket Team.

Again cheers fellas - keep up the great work.
