AFL Platinum Dream Team.



1. 8 or 16 team format (depending on interest).
2. "Live" draft-each player can only be in one Dream Team.
3. 2 rounds warm up to establish a ladder, then 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc in a knockout format.
4. Dream Team points scoring system.
5. Beginning in Round 12.
6. 7 Backs, 6 Centres, 2 Rucks, 7 Forwards. Players positioned identical to AFL Dream Team.
7. Draft will be conducted in a random order using a random number generator, with reversed order each drafting round (As for NBA).
8. 22 players, you may trade 3 times a round, either with another team or by picking up a "free agent" and releasing an owned player at any time other than during a round.
9. 2 Player bench, automatic emergency with the highest scoring player subbing in for any non-playing player, in any position. That is, each team has 24 players, but only 22 play. This is so that if one of your guns gets injured, you don't have to delist him to avoid a zero and lose him to simply the most opportunistic team.
10. Once a draft order has been established, trading will begin, i.e. you may trade draft picks. There is no trade deadline.
11. A weakness of the "premium" dream team comp has been addressed, trades must be approved by moderator (me) to ensure no cheating. Trades will be approved unless they are totally ridiculous, i.e Dean Cox for Antonie Grover.
12. No salary cap, due to the drafting scheme.

Thats the plan adam10, round 12 seems a long way off now! Didn't realise how quickly the league would fill up, well I wanted to be conservative anyway. Will probably look to start in Round 10, this gives enough time to finalise rules, draft and setup, whereas round 9 would be a bit of a rush.

The live draft concept is really good. Have done the NBA fantasy draft twice now and have enjoyed it both times.

Nope, the draft order will be determined soon and will be done by random number generator, in Excel. Don't worry, I'm not just going to give myself the number one pick! If by some chance I do get the number one pick, I'll run it again because no-one would believe me

One thing that has occurred to me is that answers to many of the questions asked (by everyone, not just you adam10) so far in this thread can be found in the opening post. If the opening post doesn't explain something well enough or not at all then by all means ask but please take a look there before asking, thanks guys.

No worries Pumbi, although it may seem like it it's really not that much work. After the teams have been set up and its up and going (which will take only about an hour) it will only take about 20 minutes a week to calculate the scores (which is easy thanks to FanFooty ) for each team and update the thread with scores and results.

I'm sure someone would be keen to have a second league should you float the idea. Taking care of this one is enough for me though. I can put you down as 3rd emergency for this league if you want?

Yeah, thats the plan. If it works out not to be possible to have everyone online at once (ie if we cant find a time that suits everyone) we'll still work it out somehow.


Also, I'm hoping to have a more rigid outline of the rules and the draft order up here soon, probably sometime on the weekend. So stay tuned!
