I apologised to the great man 2 years ago 1980, ever since then I have been reborn and seen the light.

I love the big fella so much so my 3 and a half year old goes around the house singing Richo Richo man.

Regarding the 1.7 its really annoying that buddy wasnt hung out to dry yesterday, imagine if that was Richo? This board and others would have lit up with rage.

Buddy's kicking really is shithouse, you have to wonder if that goal he kicked last year on the boundry line to win the match against Adelaide was a fluke.

It is annoying. But that was no fluke, Buddy kicks those goals on a regular basis. He just has his awful days.

You won't get an apology from Garry Lyon,Gerald Healy cause they have no respect for RICHMOND or RICHO for that matter! always first to critise when they get a chance or talk us down when we start to make some progress.I guess Melbourne are travelling just fine eh boys??Will listern and watch to see what they say about Buddy's woeful kicking or that oppertunity missed by Pavlich!

I posted in a Richmond board thread a few weeks back that I think that Richo is a superstar player and a Richmond poster replied that he had let the team down too often to be considered a top player.

Hope that poster has seen the light in the past few weeks!

Richo has been a revelation this year in his roaming role. He is the most improved player in the AFL I would guess at the minute. The most surprising thing is his kicking is looking good at the minute.

I wanted Richo to be limited to the goal square to limit our dependance on him. Full credit to the innovative coaching staff for figuring out a far better way to ulilse his skills.

I think Terry is coaching very very well this year. Our team balance, structure, style of play, intensity, focus... basically everything is significantly improved.

And I will not apologise to Richo for comments about his woeful kicking in past. Facts are facts, he harmed as much as he helped (and I have huge respect for him and his work ethic). I have always thought that he would be up there with Ablett, Locket etc if it wasn't for his kicking. One good season doesn't change that.

More importantly, I think he has to be a legitimate Brownlow threat if he keeps his current form up. Now that would have been unthinkable imrpovement at the start of the year.

What he said - I've been a big Richo-basher. Basically saying that he was not an effective Key forward, and we wouldn't get anywhere playing him the way we had for the last 15 years. I still stand by that.

Where I was wrong was I did not think he could make a go of the roaming wingman - sure he would get a lot of the ball, but the key requirement there is disposal, and Richo's kicking and decision making is - well, you know.

But he has done OK - and what has turned it into a great move is how he is timing his forays forward. He is not clogging up the forward line, and because he is not leading from the goalsquare, he is not running wide to pockets - he always moves down the corridor direct to the goalsquare.

Richo always was a weapon - it has always been a case of using him properly. We've tried the 'Goalsquare Gorilla', the 'Roaming Half-forward' - this is the first one that seems to have some chance of success.

But only because we have some other forward options.

And his kicking has always been poor for a key forward - so is Franklin's.

It's amazing how a great player gets to shine when the team around him take some of the load.

that is it in a nutshell
Richo would be a superstar(and I think he is) if Tigers had of performed over last decade When a team is winning there is a lot less pressure on the accuracy of the full forward. Who cares if buddy kicked 1.7 They still won because someone else stepped up ie Roughead

Who cares what they think anyway, respect from the media is a nice thing but as long as we're playing good footy and heading in the right direction I couldn't care less what they think :thumbsu:

Hey Tigerdrive your right:thumbsu: in saying that as long as were playing good footy and heading in the right direction you could'nt care less what they think.... though they seem to talk up Melb saying no crisis etc, etc, if it was us they'd be laying the boots in:thumbsd:.Media is very powerful source look how Eddie kept a positve spin on things {via The Footy Show}when Collingwood were at a low, weve had enough nagatives in the last 25 years or so not to mention it's hard getting kids to follow the tigers due to our lack of sucess. We need positive media or at least a fair view:thumbsu:.

Richo is kicking straight because he's burning all the excess energy with his run. He has been a head case who needs to act and not get caught up in it. In the past he was waiting too much and getting frustrated. He is a man of action and instinct. A true hunter.

Usually players end their careers playing forward instead of on the ball, Richo is doing it the other way.

Absolute freak this guy, hurry up and have a son Richo !!! :thumbsu:

one? naa dude, lets shoot for 4. That takes care of our spine for a couple of decades. We will have Richo at FB, Richo at CHB, Richo at CHF and Richo at FF. And Richo senior, running around the wing. ;)
