I've decided that now is the time to replace my laptop and I've seen a few of those white i books around the place and they look quite sexy as well as good value. I do a lot of travelling so I'm looking at the 12 inch and the base model should do the job as all I will use it for is internet and the occasional bit of word processsing.

Has anyone got an i book or knows anyone who does, and what do you or they think of it? Any problems etc..?

Cheers

I have a 12" PowerBook, and it's close to the best purchase I've ever made. The newer iBooks are quite good, and are great value. They are slightly and intentionally crippled compared to the powerbooks (ie: you can't run multiple monitors, have slightly lower max RAM, etc) but they still represent excellent bang for buck.

There are disadvantages though. If you have existing software investments for PC, you will have to get new software for this machine. OS X is IMHO the best OS you can get, but it takes a bit of getting used to compared to Windows. Have a browse around the Apple discussion forums and see if you can get any questions answered.

I used to use a 12" iBook at work - was a great little machine. I'd recommend it to anyone after a basic laptop. I'm currently running a 15" Powerbook - and it is awesome.
