Because people are dumb enough to pay double for a sticker. Price difference won't change as long as that continues.

But they just work!

Steve Jobs <3

:heart::heart::heart:

If you just compare specs then you get more bang for your buck with a pc but you get more with less specs with a mac.

It really does come down to courses for horses not down to one or the other being "dumb".

If simplicity is your thing then be prepared to give up a bit of freedom and buy a mac.

PC fanbois really are geeks though, aren't they. :D

Absolute tripe Probst. What i said was factual

HP, Dell, ...... are all massive corporations, maybe not as large as Apple but give me a break. They are still smaller, which is what i said wasnt it?

According to this graph - You're the one conforming.

Usage share of web client operating systems. (Source: Median values from Usage share of operating systems for December 2010.) Windows XP (44.0%)
Windows 7 (24.23%)
Windows Vista (16.74%)
Mac OS X (6.82%)
iOS (iPhone) (1.94%)
Linux (1.53%)

Windows is used more because its more compatible with more applications and software than MACS, simple.

..or are more applications written to suit the most common operating system?

yep but unfortunately because of PC's large market share, pretty much all major viruses are targeted at PC users, after all the creator would want to give it as much exposure as possible per unit effort.

This perpetuates the "omg i have mac no virus in 10 years" mentality too, comes down simply due to the fact PC owns a significantly larger market share and not because a MAC osx is actually better software.

also reading the "better built in defenses" on apple website brings the lulz, gotta hand it to the apple ****ers.

Nothing to do with Microsoft then?

They only look better because they have no hardware in them to bulk them up.

An equivalently priced PC will be faster, thats a fact, especially if it has windows 7 apposed to windows XP.

Its funny how by buying a mac people think they are not conforming, actually its the other way around.

Buying a mac is buying an apple product, which is a huge coporation.

You can buy a HP, dell, samsung etc PC which are not massive corporations.

Buying a PC is less conformist.
not related to the thread topic but both Samsung and HP EDS are bigger companies than Apple

You are so wrong...was it deliberate or are you stupid?

Samsung is the world's largest private conglomerate by revenue with an annual revenue of US $172.5 billion in 2009.

HP's posted net revenue in 2009 was $115 billion.

On May 3, 2010, Fortune Magazine listed Dell as the 38th largest company in the United States and the 5th largest company in Texas by total revenue. It is the 2nd largest non-oil company in Texas (behind AT&T) and the largest company in the Austin area- Revenue in 2010 just under $53 billion.

As of September 2010, Apple had worldwide annual sales of $65.23 billion.

Keep trying fanboi.

Generally, I find these Mac v PC v Linux, Intel v AMD, ATI v Nvidia discussions funny, I do wonder what the look of a computer has to do with anything. It's there to do spreadsheets, edit movies, look at websites etc. How does the aesthetics of the thing help with any of this?

I use PC's at work because i only need low specs so they are dirt cheap. Point of sale and stock software, office admin, a bit of email etc.

Personally I used to use windows based laptops and desktops in the past right back to an old windows 3.1 486DX with 8mb of RAM and a 512mb HDD!! That was up until about 12 months ago.

I now do my gaming on my 360 & PS3 or even my iPhone so i didn't need to keep building gaming machines, constantly upgrading. I was sick of my windows based laptops being buggy, clunky and very anti-portable. After my latest laptop died i decided to include mac's on the next shopping list.

I looked at all the options on the market (including PC) and the MacBook Pro (15") ticked all the boxes.

-It's got the specs that allow me use all the programs i want such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Office, MYOB, Rosetta Stone, Internet/Torrents, iTunes/VLC etc.
-the battery life and portability mean i can take it to meetings and it will last.
-it's incredibly reliable and despite very very heavy use it hasn't slowed down yet, normally i would have formatted and re-installed windows twice by now.
-FireWire 800 for super quick data transfer to my external hdd's plus the laptop itself has a 500gb HDD.
-It networks perfectly with the windows PC i use as a media server/torrent server at home and same with the work network.

Yes it was more expensive but i could afford it and i've now had it longer than i had my last 2 windows based laptops combined and i think it will last at least another 12-24 months, a RAM upgrade might keep it going even longer.

I will probably keep using PC's for desktop pc's in the foreseeable future, i can't see the extra cost being worth it, but for laptops i think it's easily worth the extra price.

My computer looks good.

I have an expensive black aluminium case and a nicely styled black Samsung widescreen monitor.

PCs like this went out of fashion about a decade ago.

lol, i know people who have done that because they need to use a certain program for architecture. Other than absolute need, why on earth would anyone do that.

Actually not necessary anymore, as I found out to my delight today. Autocad have released Mac compatable software. :thumbsu:
