Multiplat Arcade Machine Rivalries

A fair while ago now, I was working at a shopping centre that had an arcade. My girlfriend at the time used to knock off an hour after I did, so I would go to the arcade and have a game on the Simpsons pinball machine while I waited so we could walk home together. I wound up getting pretty good at it and would get through an hour for $2 due to free games. I ended up getting the grand master score, had it for a couple of weeks before the person who had it previously knocked me off. I then got the score back. A couple of weeks later, whoever this mystery person was got it back. This went on for at least twelve months. I think the two of us also forced the arcade to raise the score at which you got a free game as we were both no doubt playing for ages on $2. Anyone else had a situation like this? Are you out there, random stranger who also played the Simpsons pinball machine at the Logan Hyperdome, circa 2005 - 2006?
