Well that probably evens out with Hamill

You've got to be kidding. One is a duel premiership player, Norm SMith medalist, a couple of All Australians, AFLPA Most Courgeous Player a couple of times, an all out champion of the game - the other is Aaron Hamill a hard working honest footballer.

One is 30 the other 25, Archer would be used to nullify Hamill, probably evens out ;)

I don't think anyone has suggested that Hamill has achieved more in his career than Archer. However in terms of their respective ages, value and relative importance to their teams as of 29/3/03, Aaron is the player I'd be choosing.

Anyway this is a Saints board and some of our views are quite understandably biased. I'm sure your boards are the same, one of your threads compared Jess Sinclair to Heath Black didn't they? :)

But they will be missing the same game, and Archer is a much better footballer. Doesn't matter how old they are.

And yes, Sinclair was compared to Black. Bit insulting to Jess if you ask me.

Don't under-estimate Archer's importance to our team, generally when he fires we win.

Fair enough. ;)

Nice to see that a few of the Roo supporters have been visiting our Board.

Makes you wonder whether they are a little concerned after a few injuries (+1 suspension).

Imagine how they'd be if (and I wouldn't wish it on anyone - well except maybe Collingwood) they lost 12 of their top 13 players ?

For what its worth, I wish you well, Kangas - except for rounds 1 & 16

Glen Archer has been a fantastic player over the years and while I'd be lying if I said I wasn't relieved he wasn't playing in round one I hope he can return sooner rather than later.

I'd still take Hamill over Archer at this point in time. Both are similar in that they have a real physical prescence that can only lift their teammates. Hopefully Aaron will go on to achieve a lot of the team success that Archer has experienced throughout his career.

Although I feel dirty and will have to say 101 hail mary's after this comment, but I would take Hammil right now also, due to his age. But, the discussion is referring to one game they will both miss in 4 days, and the impact on both sides. Right now, Archer is a better footballer. We was AA last year for god's sake.

I dont even know who you are anymore mate!! :o

Anyway, and i'll preface this by saying i dont want to turn this into a "lets argue over Grant Thomas' coaching exploits" thread, but as much as i dont have a heap of time for your coach, i'm getting the feeling that this could be the first of many very spirited clashes between our respective teams over a good many years.

I'm going to ignore the praccy game result as you just cannot be that bad, and there surey isnt that much difference between our teams (i'd love to believe there was).

You have the better rated ypung talent, and rightfully so, but we have our fair share of young hopefuls. Add them to a solid core of 25 - 27 year olds (probably more so in our case, no offense) and the 2 squads shape up as good rivals for the future.

Hope its a great game tomorrow, and sincerely hope your club finally has some luck with injury this year.

Thanks carlos

I hope we have spirited clashes with lots of sides over the coming seasons.

The start of a new year offers the opportunity to put a line under past performances and the chance to build a decent future for ourselves; we need it!

*Thru gritted teeth* good luck tomorrow & for the rest of the season.
