Archer Reported

Yes it's true.

He took a dig at Cam Mooney's ribs in a mrking contest.

Saw it on Sports Tonight last night. Damning video evidence

Prob 2 weeks. Unfortunate, but if you want to do that these days you have to be prepared to cop what's coming.

Did yous all see what happened before it? Never mess with Archer! We always get heavily punished when it comes to reports. Grrrr

Tell us what happened - I was sitting next to the Roos race about 10 rows back, I just saw a bit of niggle in the first half, Chapman and Boomer were having a bit of a box, but that was it.

What did Mooney do?

Will probably get a week, although not a lot in it.

Just a shame that Cameron wasn't looking and was being restrained when whacked. He looked wild after it, but couldn't get to Archer.

Would have been great to see them going at it.

It is a typical Arch uppercut to the guts. Didn't seem to be too much force behind it. He could get two, but should get one.

Sportal
Kangaroos' hardman Glenn Archer has been booked for his role in a skirmish with former teammate Cameron Mooney during the first quarter of Sunday's clash against Geelong.

Archer was reported on video evidence by Video Reports Officer Ian Robinson for striking Mooney and is likely to face the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.

The video review of the round is continuing.

Yeah it looked like a 1 - 2 week holiday incident to me, as he did connect (although not forcefully), with the only thing on Archie's side being the fact that when he threw the sucker punch to the guts he actually had his jumper pulled completely over his head and he was therefore unable to see.

Other than that though, or Mooney saying "Nah, didn't even touch me sir, I just recoiled to make it look bad to milk a free kick", I think Arch will have yet ANOTHER rest.

Do you mean the Cam Mooney interview in last week's Herald Sun?
Mooney said having played with Archer he "knows he's not going to hit me", so he enjoys getting into him a bit... Arch was simply restoring his reputation.
One week if he pleads guilty I'd reckon.

Not for me.

I like Cam, and he is better playing footy with his jaw intact.

They have a special rule for Archer in cases like that... they'll call it 'Attempted Striking' and give him two weeks!

Archer was stupid for punching at all. He prides himself on his courage but the punch was gutless. It's embarrassing to think our two champions, Stevens and Archer are resorting to shocking lapses in discipline in their latter years.
