Are either of these PC's good for mild gaming?

Depends what type of games you are wanting to play.

For 2d platformers and kids games those PC's wil be fine. For modern games (Battlefield Bad Company 2, MW2, Mass Effect etc.) it probably wont run.

If you can stretch your budget, and don't want to build, maybe try one of these http://www.infinitycomputer.com.au/...ntent&view=section&layout=blog&id=2&Itemid=19

But if you want a real cheap gaming rig then you would be better off building it yourself.

The Systemex home one from infinity computers is pretty much the same as the eMachine one except for a slightly faster CPU so the Infinity computers one is better. Also wouldn't hurt to upgrade the GPU (Graphics card) for the extra $40.

But if those are the only games you are after they will all run them fine. But I'd choose the Systemex Home one if I was going to choose.

Surely you wouldn't need a "gaming" PC for Minecraft or Premiership Coach...?
You pretty much do for Minecraft unless you turn all the settings down and suffer a shitty frame-rate.
The 5450 will run Minecraft fine but it will struggle with most games from about 2006 on, it's not a card meant for gaming. If you're thinking about playing more recent games the cheapest you should get is a 5570

Fair enough, my brother plays Minecraft and I'd consider our home PC to be pretty average (though it ran a... free... copy of NBA 2K11 alright); always wondered why he played a ridiculously pixelated game, turns out that is by design haha

Minecraft is an incredibly awesome game.

My 3 year old laptop (3GB Ram, 2.4 Ghz) runs it at about 30 FPS, with the occasional lag spike, in case that helps.

It doesn't need a powerful computer at all, unless you're going to play with texture packs that are 128x and over :D

Also, I reckon we need a thread solely for computer builds. I'm going to do one soon and I'll probably need advice :p
