The Team of the Decade was announced in March 2005. In the three seasons that have passed since has anyone done enough to work their way into the best ever Crows side?

Personally i think that Ben Rutten is pushing for a spot in the backline as is Hound. I still don't know if i agree with Mark Mickan's selection (yes he was club champion, but he played less that 40 games in 3 seasons, if club champ is a criteria would Matt Connell be more worthy as a premiership player also?) Would we still have McDermott as Capt?

Thoughts?

I think you'll find the AFC posted that page in '05, the team was infact selected in 2000 to go with AFLs centenary season (stamps could be obtained apparently http://www.footystamps.com/ac_team_of_the_decade.htm)

Anyway, thats just me being pedantic, I would think Rutten and Basset would be certainties along with Tyson Edwards, Roo would probably take over from Mcdermott as captain, Brett Burton would also be pushing for a spot, as much as we all frustrates us, he is something special. Johncock would be the only other to really be close. Other than that, very few, Thompson, Bock and VB given maybe a year or 2.

My team- opt for Welsh, Burton, Edwards, Clarke and Bassett in; I also kept A.Jarman and McGuinness in for their sheer brilliance (watch our first game against Hawthorn again- many people forget, or were too young to remember-myself included, how good Mcguinness was. I also left in McDermott because despite the controversies, he was our first captain, and one of the greatest players the state has produced

Man thou, if we could have recruited better in the early days- imagine adding Carey, Kernahan, Platten and MacIntosh to the list

If the side was selected now, Rutten, Bassett, Clatke and Johncock would come under serious consideration

I believe some of our young crop such as Van Berlo will end up being greats of our club

To be honest, I was never a fan of

McGuiness, he was too one sided and ran himself in to trouble too often
Anderson, too slow, by the time he returned back from Vic, his legs could not carry him over the ground
Tragenza, his disposal was terrible
A Jarman, his last couple of yrars ar the club was all about Jars and not the team

Lack of depth in quality at the time got some of these players selected
