Why are they playing in defence,Houilhan can be damaging up in the forward line or near the wing and Gibbs should be in the guts, running around, but he seem to be in the backline. I see guys like Rhys Palmer at the Dockers who has played 2 games and too me he looks like being a better player at this stage, maybe because he get's to run free in the middle, stick Gibbs in the guts and let him run loose, don't let him hold back and be just ok in the backline.

Gibbs isn't being held back.

His good, but i think he could be a star already, but i guess they want him to not run around too early and let guys like Stevens,Judd,Murphy,Hadley,Simpson and Carrazoo do that in the middle and Gibbs do that in year 3 or 4. I just hope they not developing him to be a permanent half back player.

Drop Russell, put Gibbs in midfield or forward line, put pfeifer in the forward line, put Peter Dean in defence, he can take oppostions 3rd best forward.

Gibbs has to learn to take the game on and carry the ball.
He is to quick to dish it off

At 43 years of age... yeah... why not, dual premiership player, inject a bit of experience into the side, add a bit of mongrel to our backline ;)

Ratten had Gibbs at full back on Watson for pretty much a quarter. If that is not wasting a huge talent then i have absolutely no idea what is. Gibbs had four clearences in around a half of footy, get the kid in the middle and let him show our fans and other supporters why he was picked number one.

It's a pretty delicate balancing act Ratts has to deal with. Yes Houli can be very handy across HF but we also need his top-class disposal coming out of our back half.

Gibbs is a work in progress. I'm sure the coaching staff have some rationale behind what they're doing with him. There's no way known he's being pencilled in for a career across HB. I'd imagine there are certain lessons they're wanting him to learn from each job they give him.

He's every chance to become an elite mid in time, but let's just remember he's a long-term thing and he's played 25 games at AFL level.

Houlihan needs to be DROPPED. He is the main culprit in our team where losing doesn't hurt him enough. Time for him to go.

Gibbs was very immature when he arrived. Putting him in the leadership group was the most ridiculous thing i've heard and probably put the kid in a spin. He has taken his time finding his feet but he is gonna be very good.
I think it's about time to put him in the middle now. Take Carazzo's spot. Carazzo's disposal just kills us.
A midfield of Judd,Murphy,Stevens, Gibbs,Hadley i like.

I think Gibbs seems to wait for the play to come to him. He must realise the team needs him to GET IN THE GAME. Go find the ball, put a shepherd on. Do something to make his presence known. He needs confidence but as Kreuzer showed you make your own luck most of the time!

Houlihan is one of the Blues Biggest Problems.
Example, 5 slipped tackles in the 3rd quarter of round 1, costed us goals.
He is nearly the slowest player on the team and can't tackle. Who ever playes on him exploits his weakness' too much and he costs the team a lot. He is one of a few weak links in the chain that must be removed if the blues are to get back up there. Much rather see Jackson in ahead of him.

He is one our our most skillfull players though

Hard one with Houlihan, he is one of our most skilled players, constantly gets beaten in one-on-ones in the backline, should be playing in the forward line.

As for Gibbs, his weakness is his pace (or lack of), hence why he wont take players on.

We know he has great poise and evasiveness, but he probably feels (with a lack of confidence) that he's going to get run down, so, he gives the ball off to someone in space

he has never taken the game on since his he started is tenure at CFC... he wont get better, hence trade for a few picks of another tall defender. when we needed him in the last qrt to help judd and murf... he tucked his #$@@ in between his legs again... he is now a senior player and we expect more...

Hoola should definetly be in the half forward line, its his most damaginging position!
The problem is that he is so limited as a footballer, its his only position. Skills are the only thing he possesses- every other football requirement he fails.

Russell is another- I am quickly losing faith that he will ever be anything more than a sack of shit.

No reason to be concerned with Gibbs at all.

What about the 3rd quarter of Round 2 NAB Cup against Hawthorn?

Can I get some of what you're smoking?

He went to the player the coaches instructed him to play on. I'm sure you would have loved him to leave his man and run to the contests and hope that he would have won clearances and created/kicked goals. But more often than not, when players disregard the coaches instructions there is no sense of order on field and his opponent would have probably been the one creating and kicking the goals.

he is now a senior player and we expect more...

He's just turned 19, it's his second year on our list (first full pre-season) and he's played 25 games. Hardly a senior player!
