My mates and I have a saying when you meet a shit bloke " he'd be a******* Essendon supporter that ****".
On a very politically incorrect tangent I have a mate who reckons all the more simple minded folk among us support the bombers.
It's uncanny how often he's right. "Watch this" he says and he will go up and say "who do you follow in the footy mate?"

Also, Hawthorn supporters are allergic to the word Richmond. They have an inferiority complex over us because they've won plenty of cups since 1980 and we've won none and for us to have massive crowds and more members than them without playing a final since '01 shits them up the wall.

If they are my age and barrack for Essendon I know for a fact that they didn't watch sport, perhaps didn't play footy when very young, but jumped onto footy late primary/early high school.
If they are a saints supporter I know they are a bit feminine.
If they are a Carlton supporter I can usually tell they have a lack of morals.

If they are Tigers I know that they are a genuine football person!

There are 2 main reasons I will dislike a footy fan of another club that I've just met.

1. They are arrogant and poor winners (I'm ok with poor losers, I am one myself)
2. They simply don't understand and/or love the game. I've offended more than a few people who I've met who have tried to sprout shit to me about footy where in some cases what they're saying is blatantly wrong or just idiotic and I've called them out.

If only real life had an ignore button.
