Juventus; Wonders
Within the last week there has been some outlandish comments made about not only our club, but also our players and coaching staff. We go nearly 2 years without a loss to any club besides Geelong, we win a premiership, a preseason competition and everyone acts like we have been wooden spooners.

Twitter has gone crazy, people saying Bucks isn't the right man, we lack a key forward(yes, thats right, a key forward, as if Cloke isn't a man mountain) and our club is a shambles. Seriously? All after a loss in a pre-season cup to a full strength Adelaide team.

Are you guys worried about the year to come? Has our performances throughout the preseason changed your mind at all toward how we are going to go against the tougher sides ie. Hawthorn, Geelong.

I am not worried that we are losing, the only worry I have is how will we play Buckleys game plan with our full strength team. We should find out on Friday hopefully.

As it stands with caff and krak out if we can maintain a fairly healthy list I reckon our best 22 when playing with confidence can beat anyone..first we have to sort the team out best 22 & then we have to try and keep them together so they can gel as a team.. Also it's fantastic not to have the added pressure of a nab cup grand final :thumbsu: so I'm not worried

Im not worried yet because Carlton havent won a game yet and Geelong got belted at simmonds i dont think its a reflection of how good they are.....i dont think we will beat hawks as the primary list hasnt had enough game time and the hawks have had a good pre season but thats just my opinion.

The only thing that concerns me is the injuries,we have not had much luck there I just hope we have had our share now.

I am not worried about our early season form I would much prefer a low key start to the year, what with one thing and another we ran out of legs at the wrong time last season as we showed in 2010 it is much better to come good in the 2nd and most important part of the season.

In this years pre season matches we have unearthed some very good prospects some of whom may even get a chance this season I will be interested in the team we put out against the Saints,Didak,Beams and Elliott
to see how they are traveling.

I cannot wait for the season proper hopefully we will have enough players up and about to be able to rest players through the season I think at our best we are a match for any of them.

Go the Pies:thumbsu:

This is getting ridiculous.

Reading some other sites 'supporters' are suggesting
* We write off this year and tank for draft picks
* We bring back Malthouse
* We bring back Hafey
All of those suggestions were made in a serious manner.

Sometimes I just despair at the the thinking of some people

If the club was concerned about results, do you think that they would have left the entire midfield in Melbourne and taken Reid and Cloke off at 3/4 time on Friday night? Would we have taken 700+ games of experience off the field at 1/2 time last week?

Seriously idiotic to be worried because we didn't win the mickey mouse cup. We lost to St Kilda in the first week of the 2010 NAB Cup, and we won it in 2011 - How did those results go as predictors of our success in those seasons?

The bulldogs also won 2010 I think and we beat them first round very comfortably. The nab cup is not a simulation of a high intensity contested possession based match; we're treating it like training as it should be.

A few of these kids like Jamie elliot, Peter yagmoor and paine will look so much better when surrounded with well-drilled seniors. Reserve your judgments until we have 20 seniors on the park with something to play for IMO .

I've said all along that we won't be anywhere near our best until about midway through the season, and this year that may not be a bad thing.

The Hawks are up too early, Buddy playing in the middle, Rioli testing those hammys, they're even rushing Roughead to try and get him back in time for round 1, they will falter late.

You only had to look at the weekend, Geelong did exactly what we did, they tanked, they rested anyone who wasn't 100% or who had already played too many minutes for their fitness staffs liking.

Mick Malthouse used to say the season was a marathon, but last year we treated it like a sprint, especially early, so now we have learned from last year and have taken a step back. Yes, in the process we've had some bad luck, but that's life, we have to cope with that.

With any luck (and you need it these days to win a flag) we'll be there on prelim weekend, when the season really matters.:)

We must finish top 4.

It is a very calculated risk that the brains trust are tacking.

If we are 0-3 it will look bad.

Who cares it'll only look bad in round 3! No one will care if we win the next 8 straight.

Case in point we were 3-5 after we got pantsed by the Blues in 09 we then won the next 8 in a row and finished % off top 3.

But we didn't win the flag.

Both Freo and West Coast are mad for it this year and have great draws.

Early loses mean the likelihood of traveling for finals which makes them rafffles.

As for the Beatles..

they run off with the Maharishi..

oh yeah I forgot about our appalling interstate record.

We should rename this Board the overconfidence board.

I guess you gotta expect that from teenagers.

We have won 2 premierships in 50 years; read it; let it soak into your brains; so our record shows we need everything to go right to win a flag and then something comes from left field and still knocks us out (like last year).

So Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Because we have to make those games up.

2009 we where stuffed going into the Finals as we where going bat out of hell to get Top 4

I just think it is funny that even some posters here have changed their attitude when referring to this weeks "practice match" against St Kilda. They've all been practice matches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's great the Hawks are up and about to give Bucks and co. three weeks to plan for them. No secrets there!

When we have been switched on on the practice games we have looked good...slow start to the year and make sure we get over the line then build into the finals.

FFS there was daylight between the top two or three sides last year and the rest. A lot of the up and coming sides are one trick ponies...Judd, Sandilands etc.

Hawthorn need more game time into their side that have players coming back from injuries in an almost new look line up. The Pies and Geelong are managing their sides because they can. Both have the depth and personnel to achieve their long term goals. Other sides don't have that luxury.

I'm looking forward to our first practice match LOL

Or the "Reality Board", which still outweighs what I assume is your preferred name the "We're All Gonna Die Board"

Plzzzzzzzzzzzz As if u have any say in people going over the top?

Your one of the worst posters on this board, 2 in 50? some teams dont have 1 in 50.... Maybe go back to your we are doomed boards....

No, not yet. Really keen to see how we go under Buckley with our best 22 though. Geelong looked shaky at times last year. They won a few games by under a goal, while we were smashing teams. Fortunately for them they peaked at the right time. That's all I care about at this point. Hopefully we finish top 4 and go absolutely insane with our pressure and intensity come finals time....

The pessimist board is a lot more depressing than the overconfidence board.
