The Casey website continues to disappoint. Whilst normally I avoid Saintsational due to the emotional posts, it seems the only way to get news on the Scorpions (liked the nickname for Jarryd Allen) :

Absolutely pathetic effort - 16 saints players playing.....against a fairly solid bulldogs reserves...Peter Street BOG by a MILE.....

BJ - easily best for Scorps....about 35 touches in 80% TOG, lots of handballs (about 12 kicks) set up lots of Casey movement, NO one to take advantage, his hands were clean and quick. Played Ruck Rover for most of the match. Two classes above anyone else on the ground.

Mini - lots of footy, not one possesion longer than 30 metres...very tenacious, but no hurt factor..HFF/Rov

Macca - Long and gangly, did some nice things, but lacks strength. dropped a few grabs he had first hands on. Second Ruck/Third fwd

Armo - Pretty quiet and then knocked out in the second term....still seems a yard slow. Rover

Ferg - a great battle with Callum Urch...probably won in the end considering the ease at which the ball was entering the F50..took plenty of grabs but coughed it up a bit

Dempster - non existant first half a bit of time on the pine....better third term....very average overhead..Outside midfield

Rix - Was well beaten by Street, but contested manfully and tried hard around the ground...kicked a couple when he went Fwd.

Howard - Mixed bag of good and woeful, no footy brain. BP/FP

Goose - had a very poor game. outside of a couple of good tackles and spoils he had zero effect and was beaten easily by Jason Cloke and McDougall...CHB/CHF/FB

Gwilt - Slow as treacle, and butchered the footy.....had a woeful first half, won more footy in the second.....Centre

Jack - No effect in the first half (<3 touches) won a bit of footy in the last quarter - HFF/BP

Woody - Presented well and took some good grabs at CHF in the first half. looked a fish out of water in the backline in the second half. Has a ? over his speed and agility. CHF/CHB

LJ - Did some nice (clever) things....chased well...but is way too skinny and was brushed aside, and will make no impact. HFF

Eddy - second best player, would have accumulated near 30 touches, ran hard. Outside mid

Chivers - struggled....looks too short to play as a defensive tall. BP.

Thanks guys - appreciate the wrap. I'm not on Saintsational... I find it a bit full on so I don't bother. Might be worth getting on board tho if it gives Casey feedback :)

Cheers

Armitage will get a few games this year im sure...
Just wondering how saint fans rate him in comparison with Geary... and other young midfielders
In terms of supercoach/dreamteam Armitage would be a bargain if he gets games.

Armitage will probably be a better supercoach buy than dream team, but there's not much in it. Geary is an accumulator of possessions, he is fairly cool for his level of experience but will lose match time as players like Ball and Goddard become match fit and are given more time by the coach.

I cant see how this bloke is not getting a game in the saints starting 22,
Finds the footy well, and hits packs hard, disposal is above many in the team,
should definitely be getting a game before players like Fiora, Raph Clarke and I would have thought that he would at least be named an emergency ahead of Jones? What do you guys reckon?

There have always been question marks over his attitude and apparently he got a spray after his first game with the Scorps for a lack of effort. He then went and tore it up in the next match, but got himself reported. I think Ross will want to see some more discipline from him before he gets a senior gig.

I didn't know of this lol, but still surely St Kilda would definitely benefit from this highly skilled and prolific ball winner being alongside, players such as, ball, Dal Santo and Hayes. Being a collingwood supporter i would not want my team coming up against a midfield like that. And it wouldn't be the first time a player with a discipline problem being played, I remember a one Jonathan Brown had a very bad discipline problem, look at him now....

Who would you drop?

Don't say Raph Clarke because he's a defender. :p

For the first time in god knows how long we actually have a clean bill of health. The only long term injured player that we have is Jayden Attard and he is currently on the rookie list. Players like Goddard and Maguire are working their way back to full match fitness in the VFL. We're finally in a position where players have to consistently perform for the Scorpions before getting a game. I'm sure he'll play some senior footy this season and when he does it will hopefully be on the back of a run of consistent VFL performances.

Fiora plays mid yeah? I think Amritage is miles ahead of him.

Fiora's got 'runs on the board' though. We know what he can do, although he is a little inconsistent... I'm sure most Saints fans would agree with you, but Armo's got more than enough time on his side.

Well I think you'll be waiting a few weeks yet.

He was reported for charging last week in the VFL and will miss this weekend.

Therefore you'd be safe in assuming that he won't be in the team for a while.

This is the first time we've had no injuries for god knows how long. I'm sure as the season continues will pick up some injuries and that create opportunities for players just outside the team. If he can maintain some good form for the Scorpions he'll get his chance.

but armo is in my DT lol, comon saints fans....whens he making his return?
Can't see it happening soon. Geary's grabbed his chance, Clinton Jones has been missing be a bee's **** every week, Goddard's returning, Baker is yet to come back from his bull**** suspension, plus Schneider wants to rotate into the midfield. Shane Birss is also a solid candidate.

Competition's just far too tight at the moment. Armitage will be a great player. But right now there's no room for him in the team.

In terms of your DT, you're probably better off trading Armo for Geary or Freo's Rhys Palmer

Spot on goodie. I reckon if he's a lot like Hodge in early days. We'll see whether he can add the yard of pace Hodge was able to.

Plenty of numbers competing for spots as you say, and we haven't discussed Grammy being released to midfield if Dempster comes up as a player (I haven't seen much of him).

Damnit, knew I missed someone

Armitage will play 4-6 games this year from what i am hearing.

He's the next inline if any of our inside mids get injured.

Simply can't afford to play him with Lenny and Ball in the team
