Still love the bit where Michael and GOB stage a police bust on George Michael on the docks and they hire the strippers to pretend to be cops:

GOB: Oh god it's the cops and...a construction worker.
 
Watched the entire series from start to finish recently. Absolute love it.

Hands down one of the funniest clips from the show. I was literally in tears for a good 5 mins after watching this! The best part is not only the fact you don't see it coming, but GOB's reaction as he stumbles backwards. Add in the cheesy pr0n music and it gets me every time! :thumbsu:

2. The scene where Michael thinks his son is lying to him about smoking pot and walks out to talk to Gob about the issue.

Michael: I mean where have this family's morals gone?!
GOB: (coughs out smoke) I don't know. (frantically waves away smoke, acting as if it's his breath) It must be cold out here!
Michael sighs.

Agreed. Gob is the best. Couldn't find a link to a video, but I love the scene where he is looking for something to eat, finds some dry pasta, eats it, and then his face when he realises it was a huge mistake. Simple but hilarious.
 
At Michael and Rita's wedding, when GOB's put clear plastic things in the pool so he can "walk on water". In the "next Arrested Development" bit, Tobias catches fire. The camera's pointed at the ground and all you can hear is Tobias screaming "Why am I not going under the water? DEAR GOD WHY AM I NOT GOING UNDER THE WATER!?"

Bees bit is the last ep of season 1. Don't know why, but Lucille's line 'Who'd want a bee as a gift?' cracks me up every time.
 
I was under the impression there was 6 seasons. Just finished the third... sadness is indescribable.

When Lindsay is trying to get the ten commandments statue taken away from outside the courts:

Michael : Don't go suddenly turning this into one of your causes.
Lindsay : This isn't sudden! I've always been passionate about keeping church and state seperate!
Michael : Well what are wou going to do with it?
Lindsay : I don't know. Give it to a school.
 
The last few pages of this thread have made me so nervous. Are they going to be able to live up to all this brilliance? I hate to be a pessimist, but this is one legacy I couldn't bear to see tarnished.

Easily. This show had no real boundaries and was superbly resourced.

One thing that gives me hope is that, unlike most shows, it didn't need a season or two to warm up - it was pure gold from the get go. Hopefully the same is true for the new eps/movie.

Tobias: Michael if I may take off my pants and pull my analrapist stocking over my head, I think George Michael may be suffering from what we in the soft-sciences call "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder", or the "The O.C. Disorder".
Michael: Don't call it that.
 
What gives me hope is that it wasn't just the writing that made the show brilliant, it was the performances. The way they played their characters and understood them was a huge part of what made it so funny.

Even if the writing isn't AS good as it was, guys like Bateman, Arnett, Tambor and Cross will still make it hilarious.

Everyone looks back with rose-coloured glasses and we're in the twitter era where any sap with a computer and an internet connection is a critic so I'm expecting plenty of people shooting their wad on a dry run in an attempt to run the show down.

The beauty of that is they clearly loved their roles. You see the interviews on the DVDs and they slip back into their characters like they are possessed. Especially Will Arnett and Jason Bateman who cannot stand together without becoming Michael and Gob.

It's a cult show and when the new series and movie come out more will dislike it than liked it, just as now. There is no way to make this stuff mainstream.
The movie is the danger, so many shows lose it outside the confines of a TV studio. I guess AD may be OK here in that there always was a fair bit of outside stuff in LA (and mock-ups of Mexico and Iraq).

On every repeat viewing I find myself liking Michael more and more to the point where he is now my favourite character. Everyone plays off him so well and his comedic timing is brilliant.

No, I'm talking about the ratio of people who get it and enjoy it to those who don't. It's not high. You have to work to watch this show, in fact you virtually have to do what we are doing now and go online to extract all the deep, clever humour. It ain't Gilligan's Island.

A much higher hit rate than me. It's a few year since we pushed it to our friends but we had a few who it clicked for (it was shown late and unreliably on Ch7 here in Adelaide then). We had a few who would enjoy an episode if we showed it on DVD. We had some who lost interest almost immediately on watching it.
 
So excited. I've sat at work and had to stop myself from laughing hysterically at some of the posts in this thread. The gif of Gob throwing the insurance letter into the water killed me.

I couldn't watch it, but the video of Buster in hospital after he has his arm bitten off is probably the funniest moment in the whole series. I died of laughter.

I'm another who is nervous about a new season and film. I can't imagine it being awful, but I worry that my expectations going in will be far too high. I have faith in Hurwitz though, and no doubt of the characters within the show.
