It looks like Arrested Development is about to be killed off in the US [currently in the 3rd season]

Arrested Development facing the axe

If the quality of the 2nd and 3rd season is anything like the 1st, its a shame this show may be cancelled.

Id only recently bought the season 1 box set and am eagerley awaiting whtever else I can get my hands on.

Good to see Season 2 starting next week though too. Thanks for the news Jub Jub.

I just can't believe that this show isn't getting an audience like Seinfeld did in the US.

It's probably one of the best comedies on tv. I can't even believe Seven aren't showing it at a decent timeslot. Another quality show ruined by tv networks.

In all honesty (and coming from a big fan), i am not that miffed that it will be cancelled - they have provided more 'GOLD' in the short time then any of those shows who grossly outstayed their welcome -- Simpsons, i'm looking at you!

I'm a bit in agreeance with you.

The Poms are best at making comedy shows because they only make around 13 episodes a season, not 22 like the Yanks do.

I don't think Arrested Development is a show that could have a long run [say 5 or more years].Shows like Malcolm In The Middle,Drew Carey,The Simpsons,King of The Hill and even That 70's Show are good examples of the way Yanks have milked eveything they can out of a successful show. After about 4 years those shows haven't been as good.

Unbeilavable, we whinge about the quality of tv and then a show like this comes along and can't find an audience. The best written show around at the moment. And now its gone.
Great.
And now we have Dancing with 'Celebrities 4' to look forward too...
I'll supply the gun, somebody shoot me now.

I'll agree with those except King Of The Hill... I feel the quality of that show was still definatley could after season 4.... Drew Carey just took a weird turn, Malcolm in The Middle- well they all grew up and its just become not nearly as funny, that 70's show is still good but not up to par with its previous seasons and Simpsons well we all know what happened there..

Now that i think of it was Malcolm in The Middle even on TV this year? I think i remember it starting in the non ratings period for a few weeks then when ratings came back it stayed on.. Cant quite remember....

Gotta love this show. I ususally tape the 1.30am episodes and keep them. You can watch repeats of this show and never get bored.

DC started going down hill when Kate & Oswald got together. Then once Christa Miller [Kate] left,it went downhill very fast.

and the kids going up would be a problem in a couple of years for AD.George Michael & Maeby are vital characters in the show.

It might been on at the start of the year [Jan/early Feb] but only lasted about 5 or 6 episodes.

Yep, i could see their humour and loss of innocence being a problem for viewers.

The 2nd season of AD is just as funny as the 1st.

Last nights episode, which had George Michael finding George Sr in the spider hole [like Saddam],was very funny.I like the name of Gob's magician magazine - '****' :D

Sunday nights episode was just as funny.Buster thinking he's in Mexico, yet he was really at Lupe's.

I wonder if he'll ever workout who his father really is.

Was sunday nights episode the same episode they screened last monday night (last week)?

I just feel like Ive seen it really recentley, or is it from Season 1 (where Ive probably watched it on DVD in the last couple of weeks).

I presume Buster's real dad is George Sr's Brother?

No it was a new episode. It seems ch7 might be running AD on sundays and mondays. It's on again this sunday and monday night.

Correct,Oscar is his father.

Can you believe that AD is out rated in the US by 'The King of Queens'?
It'll take a miracle for it to return for a 4th season, which is a bloody shame, easily one of the best programmes going around at the moment. We'll probably get 'Skating with Celebreties' in its place. And yes, that is a real show, sigh.

I read somewhere the other day where Brian Grazer [executive producer] is hoping another US network will pick up the show.

Absolutely. The last two episodes in particular.

- Lucille's screams of delight every time Gene Parmesan reveals his identity.
- Buster thinking he had escaped to Mexico.
- The return of the chicken dance.
- The return of the Final Countdown (with Buster trying to join in).
- Buster's army uniform.

Hard to believe it can't find an audience. I guess it's too subtle for its own good sometimes. There are also a heap of running gags that probably go straight over peoples head if they haven't seen previous episodes.

- Tobias being an understudy for the Blue Man Group
- George Michael's girlfriend Ann "Egg",Ann "Hog" and many other names used by Michael
- Lindsay picking up the "homeless" guy
- Oscar with his blue spot ;)

It's a great show
