I will probably get knocked for it but I believe Daisy Pearce would be a great get as a assistant coach.

To see what she has done with the Eagles women's side in only a couple of years is fantastic. Kept it simple, made skills a focus and they have now won 5 straight after only winning 8 games in the last 3 seasons.

Maybe our preferred next coach wasn't available this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if GW took the chance to use Voss to drive out the prima donnas.
It sounds like our issues have been widely known or at least suspected, so maybe this clean-out results in a fresh new feel to the place that will be more appealing to prospective coachers in 12 months time.

She sees the game very well. Pretty insightful when she was commentating.

You wanted a senior assistant… well, GW delivered - signing the ghost of Jock McHale to lend a hand to Michael Voss this season.

Ash Hansen will be on ouija board duty in the coaches box, passing Jock’s spiritual guidance straight through to Vossy.

He'd give bad advice intentionally... a Collingwood great would not want to see any form of Carlton rise.

I disagree

Would fit right in with our coaching

According to his wikipedia page McHale "Stylistically, McHale was regarded more for his analytics and ability to inspire, rather than as a teacher of skills."

Or maybe that is too much of what we have already :D

CD - Will look to add 1-2 appointments for development but our assistant coaches are set for next year.
Make him the highest paid development coach in the AFL.

That also means no senior assistant or mentor-type role in the setup I presume. I was hoping for much more support than what’s been provided to Voss. Much more.

I don’t see where the tactical improvement is going to come from, including gameday management.

The very likely situation is Voss is gone in 2026 and we're essentially in a placeholding year.

Even Chris Davies today on trade radio said they need to add to the development team to try and bring through the kids we saw end of this season to get us to bounce back up soon.

That sort of language indicates the club is expecting a sub par year and thus Voss will be gone. If he comes out and surprises and we make finals perhaps he buys himself another deal.

Current Carlton 2026 coaching group:

AFL Senior Coach:
Michael Voss

Assistant coach (defence): Ash Hansen

Assistant coach (forwards): Josh Fraser

Assistant coach (midfield stoppage and structure): Tim Clarke

Assistant coach (midfield): Leigh Adams

Ruck coach: Matthew Kreuzer

Head of Development: Jordan Russell

VFL Senior Coach and development: Damian Truslove

Development coach: Torin Baker

No senior assistant coach to support Voss on match days - interesting.
2 midfield coaches, with one stoppage and structure is purely bang on. We need a real lift here, but surprised TC is doing this bit but happy it's been identified.
Josh Fraser = new forward coach = LIKE!!
Both issue area's addressed.
Hi Mods. Given recent announcement that current assistants are set (with some additions to Development area), could something like the above (details of various coaches names and positions) be stickied to the top of the thread.

Also, generally, I find it interesting that there aren't more additions. Maybe there were too many messages in the past, and they're trying to keep it simple?

Reasonable conclusion. It makes it difficult to bring in the senior/mentor types if you’re not expecting the current coach to make it past his final contracted season. Any new coach, especially experienced, will want to bring his own team in and like you said, that’s most likely our strategy.

Florent and Hayward this off season in a deal for Charlie and Horse at the end of next. Plenty of assistants love the opportunity to work under Longmire.
