I think we're all questioning Buck's coaching, but here's something a little left of center..
Should we be also questioning the coaching of the assistant coaches?
I'll admit, i'm no expert and i don't have a great understanding of how a footy club works: But i would imagine that a lot of the day to day coaching would left to the assistant coaches? Today the effort was there, but we didn't at all look like a well drilled side, and i think a lot of the blame should be put on the assistants. People always make it a case of Mick Vs Bucks, when in reality a large percentage coaching group left at the end of 2011 and we essentially had to start anew. While none of those coaches were successful in a head coaching role, as assistants they were highly regarded within the industry and very popular with the playing group, and every player on the team seemed to understand what their role was.. something that i just don't see nowadays. Our defence appears lost at sea: surely that has to fall on Ben Hart? We are continuously smashed in the middle year after year despite the fact that on paper, we have the cattle to be what is potentially one of the most powerful midfields in the competition! Surely that falls on Scott Burns/Mark Harvey? Our forward line, chaotic and unstructured: Surely that falls on Steve Grace?
Personally, Buck's has shown me enough to suggest that he does know his stuff, and the fact the industry holds him in such high regard despite his relative lack of success says something to me.
Of course, i think it's all well and good to question our coaching, but if we're going to do that, we need to look at the bigger picture and question the entire coaching panel AS A WHOLE.
Thoughts?
