The planet Jupiter exerts as much gravitational force on me as the bloke on the computer next to me. That is the extent of the influence Jupiter has on my life. I refuse to indulge the fiction that stars and planets squillions of miles away have the ability to affect my destiny in any way. Hell, they don't even have the inclination. People believe in this crap because they are stupid, gullible and easily exploited by any mysterious-talking con artist.

There was a great bit of research done in France on the effectiveness of astrology. Some psychologists put an ad in the paper for people wishing to have a personal astrology chart done. They then provided the details of some mass murderer to an astrologer who duly drew up the chart. This chart was then mailed to the people who had responded to the ad. The pyschologists then followed up all those who had received the chart drawn up for the mass murderer. Over 95% of the respondents said that their 'personal' chart was incredibly accurate, despite the fact that (unknown to them) it had been drawn up for a murderer.

I agree that astrology is a complete and utter waste of time and money.
What I want to know is why is it so popular? There are thousands of astrology columns, phone lines, etc etc which leads me to think there must be hell of lot of people into this stuff. So why?
