Dudes, now I know I am pretty new in here and everything, but don't shout me down, just give it some thought.

When you go to an AFL game, does it sometimes lack a bit of atmosphere ?? - that's if it's not a blockbuster or as an exciting game as it can be ??
one of the reasons is supporters can only yell when there are a couple of chants, the theme song, abuse at umpires and rival club supporters. Don't you think if supporters have some more chants, songs etc to sing (i know, i know it seems similar to soccer chants - but I don't mean like soccer chants but something similar) they could be more involved and have more of a laugh ??

I think us Essendon supporters should really look at this and do it properly, get songbooks etc until we can sing songs that we all know and in time pass on to the next generation of bombers supporters. I mean it has to start somewhere, so why not now?

thoughts ??? :)

Your thoughts are intruiging to me and I wish to subscribe to your news letter.

I'm assuming you mean something like what Liverpool have got with their Harry Kewell song Waltzing Midfielder, sang to the theme of Waltzing Matilda.

I like it.
We need something on Ramma, Hirdy, Lloydy & the Johnson's stat!!!

I suggest you lads come visit the standing room just in front of the Locker Room at the Dome, you might find something interesting.

I need directions and a map. Seriously, I can't find my way out of a wet paper bag.

Where be this place of much frivolous behaviour that you speak of?

Look for Dodgey...he's so tall he can be spotted anywhere!:D

I'm on the Telstra Dome website at the moment and I'm looking at the "detailed map." Apparently aisle 48 is on the upper most level, Coventry end.
Is this the one you mean? Can people hear you if you're that high up?

Aisle 48 is behind the goals on ground level which is where the locker room bar is situated.

Leeds chant of greedy b astard at Kewell sounded pretty good on Sunday night against Liverpool.

Actually, the fans at the Kop in Anfield has adopted the theory of booing the team to enhance their disappointing performance, when the name Igor Biscan was read out by the announcer, you can hear "Biscan you ****ing c***, get the f*** outta here" from the Kop.

Lowest level, right behind the 'cheer' squad. Just walk around below.

It's interesting, you can't hear anything on the TV these days. I know we make a fair bit of noise as do richmond supporters, but really on the tv can you hear it.,

Ah well, you're going to an AFL game I see,we go to Bombers games, that is Essendon in English.

Why don't you just go to any game anywhere and get ****ed like thay do at the soccer.

Us Essendon supporters!! was the quote. In your case I don't think so.

Goodnight.

The stamping on the hollow concrete during an essendon chant comes up pretty clear. The chanters in the standing room their have really got the people in the aisles (such as myself) surrounding the cheer squad going where it has otherwise been quiet in the past.

Dave..the cheer squad has tried unsuccessfully to get the supporters around them to give them a hand and make their jobs easier. I can always remember the efforts I went to, in trying to to motivate most of the other supporters that sit alongside the squad. It frustrated me no end (and still does, given the behaviour of those who sit on the lower levels on the wing).

The cs needs to get their own act together first, surely its not that hard to chant in time with each other. Or at least join in some songs. They'll sit and clap, but wont sing along. I'd understand if every single one had a few obscenities in them, but most of them are fun songs.

WTF ??? What r u on about Vulcan ? Obviously there is someone missing the point here and it's not me who doesn't understand English. I said AFL due to the FACT that I sometimes go and watch a game even when the bombers are not involved, thus the need for real "atmosphere" to be injected as I obviously don't support the teams playing. Would you like me to explain that to you again or is this a foreign concept to you ?? get with the program you git, and if you don't want to add something to the conversation, just do me a favour and don't reply.
If I have to prove that I am a bombers supporter in order to get a response from you, then I suppose you will never know.

the reason you'll have problems getting the people around the cs at the Telstra Dome motivated: They're all chardy sipping yuppies that pay more for tickets. All the die-harders are behind the goals right up the top!

Spot on Drew ...

the problem with the Cheer Squad is that they can't/don't judge the Crowd before they start Chanting....

They generally Only usually Chant after a Goal..... and if they try to start something at another stage, it is at a Flat time in the game when most people aren't interested in getting involved.

One thing they need to do is whenever the Ball goes out of play near the CS, they should be trying to start something.(Esp late in a Close match) People are more focused and intense when the ball is in Their vicinity, and hence are MORE inclined to join in....

THAT goes to show exactly What I'm talking about..

The problem seems to...IMO.. Lie WITH the CS, and Not the people around them.

Yeah, that's a good point go team - but I am talking about when the game hasn't got that "feeling" where you are enthralled and you want to kick start your team to liven up the game. It's just another form of keeping involved and letting the players know we are supporting them. I'm sure there are only so many "Essendon !!" chants our players respond to and then get bored by it. Imagine if Jimmy is having a blinder and every bomber starts singing a song about the great Jimmy Hird, or the game is sown up and in the last quarter we can sing a tune to Kevin Sheedy....

Bombers are always at the forefront of things in the AFL - if we got this going imagine what it would do for the club as well as the players.....

JIMMY HIRD
JIMMY HIRD
JIMMY JIMMY HIRD
HE GETS THE BALL
WE SCORE A GOAL
JIMMY JIMMY HIRD...
