The final Masters 1000 event is here with the indoor event in Paris-Bercy. This is always a bit of an ignored event with the WTF around the corner and it doesn't help that now it's next week instead of having a week's break. Most of the top guys are here though apart from Federer who has pulled out today and Nadal obivously. The rest it's a chance to win a 1000 title, there should be a couple of surprises.

Coverage is on ESPN all week, starting at 9pm AEDST each and just contiuning throughout the night. Although, today's play is not really worth watching.

Obivously nobody has been watching this event (I think I watched only about 3 games of coverage so far myself) but Djokovic knocked out by Sam Querrey after leading 6-0, 2-0. Could be a handy 1000 points Murray can pick up here.

WTF who is Janowicz? I checked the scores on my phone this morn whilst in bizarro world, but looks like the score was in bizarro world and not me. Barracking for Joooo now.

A 21 year old giant (2 metres tall+) from Poland with a big game I understand. Ranked in the top 70.

Probably Ferrer's best ever chance to break his Masters 1000 Duck. Best of luck to Ferru. Would also get him in striking distance of no.4 Nadal heading into the World Tour Finals.

Tsonga and Berdych also of course are previous winners of the event.

I haven't seen much of it either but the courts must be playing fast for Querrey, Janowicz and LLodra causing upsets. The first two are big serves and Llodra a serve volleyer.

Underdogs all won again last night!!!

Simon v. Janowicz
Ferrer v. Llodra

Looks like a 250 semi line up, rather than a masters 1000. Obv that's a bit harsh on Ferrer but still...

Well if Ferrer wins Paris, he leads the ATP tour in 2012 for titles (including a 500, 1000) and tour wins. Not a bad feat, and still with London and possible Davis Cup glory to come (this time without Nadal). Not to mention 4 GS quarters, 2 of which were semis.

Very fine year from Ferrer, ultra consistent.

It'll be interesting to see what Janowicz can do from here. Whether this will be a bit of a one off or if he can really kick on. Tennis has been waiting for a young guy to start doing something. Maybe he can be that guy because there really aren't many in the 18-22 year old age bracket that look likely to threaten the top guys in the next couple of years.

Ferrer is the ultimate professional. Has really got the most out of his game. Amazing to think he's 30 and still playing so many tournaments and getting such good results with his style of game.

Hope Ferrer wins this, as has been said, he is the ultimate workhorse and a 1000 title would be nice to have on his trophy shelf. Enjoyed the QF matches today, janowicz has big game and Llodra is playing his sexy serve and volley tennis.

Courts are faster than last year but they aren't 2010 fast. Has allowed for this attacking tennis which is good.

Ferrer wins his first 1000 title last night with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jerokwicz. Well deserved, the guy is an absolute machine and was about time the guy had a big title in his resume. Jerokwicz will be someone to watch for in 2013, huge game and very atheltic for a guy that tall, just needs to fix up a couple of things technically and he will be up there.
