Attacking Defensive Midfielders

Claude Makelele...Patrick Viera...Amdy Faye...Djemba Djemba...Steven Gerrard...these guys are the best in the premiership at both attacking and defending...it's what you pay to see (other than the scoring...and the top players...) a midfielder who can make a bone cruching tackle then take the ball forward and lash in a drive or pass to an open teammate.....or in the case of Gerrard - two-footed challenges then get sent off.

I hardly think that Djemba-Djemba has done enough to justify calling him one of the best in the Premiership for midfield work.

Tugay is quite capable of defending and attacking. Great passer of the ball and one of my personal favourites.

Didi Hamann is a superb defensive midfielder who can go forward with great effect as well when on top of his game.

In a couple of years add Joey Barton to that list.

A Great yound midfielder in defence and has scored goals this year.
