Rumour is that Mitchell Thorpe has been delisted by the Hawks!

194cm/86kg - 2 games, 1 goal.

Is he worth a look?

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

I would consider him but I think the Hawks were worried about his attitude towards football and that is why he may have been delisted?

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

We have that one selection in the PSD and we would have to pick him over Robbo. We will take probs one of Black,Talia ,Carlisle with pick 12 and that will be another young kpp. the Psd is for mature aged recruits but it will really be short term whilst are other players develop and i am not sure who to take.

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

He would have no hope, no hope, of getting to us in the PSD. Very talented, but far too aware of the fact.

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

Jesus we just got rid of Fevola and his baggage, why take this guy and his troubles onto our list.

If the hawks have delisted him, then they are paying out his contract which still has a year to run, tell you anything?:thumbsd:

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

If he's bandaged up like that at his age having hardly played a game he's not going to last too much longer.

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

We've already got the only good Mitch from Tassie.

I know Starchamber said not all players who get delisted is spuds, but injuries had ruined Thorpe's career before he even got drafted by the Hawks.

If he was delisted it was for good reasons.

Even worse than his injuries is the kind of person he is, luckily we have a couple of guys from Tassie around his age already who will be able to make the blues aware of this.

Recruiting him would be the worst thing the club could do.

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

Nah thats not unusual to see these days, more common that you may realise

True, but some of the injuries he's had are pretty bad.

Broken/dislocated ankle in his last game in Tassie, serious hip injury thats required surgery, back problems and missed this year because of a snapped sesamoid, which is the big ball on your feet beneath your big toe. That injury is far worse than the one that ruined Adrian Whitehead's career, he'll be putting pressure on that part of his foot every step he takes for the rest of his career.

I'm no doctor, but he sounds shot...

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

Take the draft pick out of the equation and then ask the same question.
Injury prone tall with attitide problems who has had three years in the system to sort things out and failed - no thanks.

If were looking for KPP depth Simpson from Geelong would seem a better option.

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

Ticks the talent box, but the injury list is scary. Hawks would only delist him for a very good reason.

Still, I'd prefer we use a PSD pick on high talent riskier players, rather than players of limited ability. We have an awesome list, and the challenge is to add to that talent rather than dilute it with battlers from inferior Clubs.

:)

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

Well I don't know really, I wouldn't mind him for free but then again he is always injured and we don't want any more injury riddled players. We have had our fair share of those, I am torn I suppose.

Re: Mitch Thorp Delisted

194cm and 86kg? He's not very heavy? Perhaps this is Hawthorn doing another Zac Dawson, boy did they miss him! I have never seen him play but it he's any good, take him, put him in the gym and don't let him out until he's around 94kg!

His athleticism and physique were never in question, no matter what he's weighing in at, he was probably the best athlete in the draft in his year.

He was fairly over rated as a player however, good, but not anywhere near what he was drafted at.

Your idea of putting him in the gym wouldn't work either because on the off chance he showed up and did what he was told, he would get injured and then throw a fit.

He would be a terrible person to have at the club.
