Where is freakin Rose Tattoo or Divinyls? Ian Moss is definately one of our finest exponants of the guitar for Chisel and himself. Also there are differences between popular bands and good bands. Most on the voting list are popular bands who thrive on reputation.

Whilst I personally prefer RT than some of the bands in the poll, they aren't in the same league. I've explained why the bands in the poll are in the poll, and why the bands aren't in the poll aren't in the poll.

Of course you could make your own poll but with the only option being Tom Petty, I don't think many people will bother voting.

If I remember correctly, it was one of your "taking the piss" posts which was a poll with multiple Petty options. This is a great poll anyway, I certainly can't remember singling it out or criticising it as a topic. Why were you so compelled to make such a comment? As I maintain, I don't care about the number of responses a post get's, its the discussion and exchange of views that it's all about.

Your posts have always been (unintentionally) pretty funny reading for a variety of reasons, especially on this board. But you used to at least occasionally have a bit of an impact sometimes and even throw up the odd half decent retort here and there before inevitably resorting to the childish name calling and huff and puff, which has regularly been your way of masking the fact that you cant actually build an intelligent response or are simply out of your depth on a topic.

I didn't mind the clouds years ago but in comparison to overseas bands i like they're not very good. Overall i think Australians have excellent taste in music but i don't see us producing decent stuff, IMO.

The bands chosen for this thread is inidictive of how crap australia is with regards music compared to the uk and america.

Pretty harsh. I can't say I listen to many of those bands (anymore) but wouldn't describe them as atrocious. I'm assuming you weren't around when these bands had their day? Not everyone liked them but very few thought they were atrocious.

Cold Chisel were good in their day. Bit boganish now (well they always were) but probably been soiled by "Barnsey's" solo work.

I reckon Chisel have about 5 good songs - and the rest are pretty horrible.

The difference between their good stuff and their bad stuff is huge.

On that list INXS by a mile!!!!

AC/DC is left out, fair enough, because it would have been a landslide but you dont get a true indication without them in it. Sure they would have the most votes but it would be interesting to see how the other bands would have gone.

Never really got into Chisel apart from a few of their obvious hits. Midnight Oil come off as annoying to be honest. HG and AC are both fairly average and Powderfinger's early stuff is good but have since become boring.

Cant believe you left Silverchair off the list. They are clearly the biggest Australian band going around and have been for a good 10 years. Daniel Johns is about the closest you will find to an australian musical genious. The boy has skills. Master songwriter and musician. Had the Chair been in the poll they would have gotten my vote over INXS and even AC/DC should they have been in the poll.

But my all time favourite aussie band is from my home town. Jebediah!! LOVE THE JEBS. I also listen to a few other lesser known aussie bands like Cog, Starky, Gotye and the more mainstream Wolfmother and Jet, they rock.
