I don't know about you folk, but I think I am going to really miss seeing Aussie Jones playing with the saints this year. I know Jason Gram is keen to fill the position that Aussie played, is he the best for the part?

Aussie is one of the most exciting players ive ever seen play the game. I reckon Aussies 2004 season was close to as good as his 97 season. Definetly a huge loss, though i think he couldve been still in the best 22 for at least this year and maybe '07. I have the st. kilda 2004 first 10 rounds on dvd and his play especially in the 101 point win over West Coast was brilliant. I don't see anyone in the current team who could provide the level of rebound and precision passing he was known for.

very disappointed in him that he gave it away, the most shattered i've ever been after hearing news of a retirement

Who can fail to be inspired by his goal-scoring run in the '97 GF?

He did it time an time again, the receive and carry, always at full pace, the frantic bounce as he speeds along, the frequent handoff and receive as he's gone past, the pinpoint pass to someone in advantage.

The "quarter-back" role was developed by him.

I love Aussie, and I wish him well in his new role.

I will miss him too.

As for who will replace him, I thought Xavier Clarke was best suited to the job. He easily tops the AFL in bounces per match 5.3 bounces (2nd = Andrew McLeod with 3.7), his disposal is spot on and he has a turn of pace.

Jason Gram has put his hand up and said "I want that spot" so some healthy competition has arisen.

Grammy has really put in this preseason and looks the goods, I have some reservations re: his disposal, but Geez it's good to see such enthusiasm.
