will aussie beat india in any of the tests after there performance against the tour sides?

We've shown enough to indicate that we can. Individually, we've seen good performances from Steve Waugh, Langer, Ponting, Martyn, McGrath, Warne, Miller and Kasprowicz (with the bat). We've also seen failures by all of them (except McGrath). We don't look like world beaters right now, which I think was the kind of impression Waugh was hoping to create leading up to the first test.

I don't think we'll see much better bowling by the Indians in the tests than Mumbai and India A displayed. Srinath isn't showing great form, and of course Kumble is missing. Sanghvi, Nehra and Harbhajan Singh all bowled well against us for India A, and of course Bahutule for Mumbai. I see H Singh and Sanghvi are in the test side. Our competence against the kind of spin India are throwing up has to be a worry, because out top order has failed 3 times out of 4 now.

But I'm more concerned about the strength of the Indian batting line up. Das, Ramesh, Laxman, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid. These are great batsmen, especially at home. McGrath has proven he'll be tight and dangerous, and Warne did rip through a Mumbai line up, none of whom will be in the First test, but beyond that I'm not seeing a lot, especially from Fleming, Kaspa and Gillespie.

My guess is that even if the bowling division can dismiss India for reasonable scores, the batting may be too fragile to capitalise on it. We may not see too many draws, but that might not be a good thing. Only our reputation and discipline are going to get us through, because conditions are equalising the talent comparison.

We really should have brought another spinner over. Is it still too late to do so? I was thinking Symonds or maybe Macgill. Who the hell plays fast bowler in india anyway?

The Australian is a strange touring side. Remember in the 97 Ashes when we won like 1 out 8 touring matches or something then basically whitewashed the test series.
The Aussies always step up for the tests.

Well, we'll know the accuracy of that theory within the week, anyway. But this touring team is a little different to the Ashes one. This one entered the country with a psychological advantage and the air of invicibility. And with the stated intention of stamping their authority on the tour from day one. Judging from his comments, I think Steve Waugh is a little worried.

On the other hand, it's a vastly stronger team than the previous Indian touring party. The inclusion of McGrath and Warne means we actually have a bowling line up this time.

Should be interesting.
