I think he will be picked by the 49ers at 31.

Current NT Isaac Sopoaga is a free agent (may be resigned on a short deal) as is fellow D lineman Rickey Jean Francois.

The 9ers need to start investing some youth into the D line.

Its a 50/50 call that one. Jenkins is stronger, williams is quicker.

(I have a feeling jenkins may go to pittsburgh who need to upgrade hampton, steelers trade back to the 24-25 range and draft him)

If both are avaialble will be interested to see who is rated higher come April 25

Williams is pretty bloody strong.

Williams is a better run stopper, Jenkins a better pass rusher. I would say most boards would have Jenkins rated higher

NFL draft scout has williams the 4th rated DT, Jenkins 6th.

Between Jenkins and Williams, they should go with Willams. Jenkins is too slow and lumbering. He's nothing more than a space filler. Jenkins reminds me too much of Terrance Cody.

I'm not opposed to dedicated threads of players. However, this thread will be dedicated to Jesse Williams between now and the time he gets drafted. There aren't any/many other Aussies in the spotlight. So it's good discussion of him stays in this thread as other Aussies in the NCAA get talked about in future. Can keep it all together here, as there won't be that many to talk about. Can track back in future.

This thread even starts with Jesse Williams, dedicated already pretty much.

Wasn't even that much discussion about Jesse Williams over the years to warrant its own thread when he was actually playing week-in, week-out in the NCAA. And now his NCAA'ness is already over.

Williams will be talked about a lot in the Aussies in the NFL thread upon his drafting and playing career. Again, there wont be many Aussies in the NFL to talk about.

Both those threads are very common topics, merged and created for that very concept thread of 'Aussies in the NCAA and NFL.'

You have to be disruptive though. That is absolutely zero pass rush. If I'm spending a top 20 pick I want some versatility

Also that lack of versatility does hurt his value because there are better fits at 4-3, like Richardson and Floyd

Thats why i like him going to san fransisco at 31.

They play the 3-4 and need youth at that spot especially if sopoaga doesnt resign. san fran play a game that has the big Dtackles occupying blockers allowing the likes of aldon smith, willis and bowman to hunt the quarterback and the running game.

Like what? There's been a plethora of Australian sporting identities who have played in American sporting leagues long before Jesse Williams.

I agree it would be a good fit for sure. He simply wouldn't have to rush anyone alongside Brooks and Aldon.
Rushing on SF would be a nightmare.

firstly i love how this thread i started over a year ago has taken off in the past few days just on the chance that Williams could be the First Australian to be Taken in the First Round of the NFL Draft, TBH i'd love him to go to my Vikes and recreate the Williams Wall with him Occupying the Blockers with his size and Kevin Williams rushing the QB as he has found a knack of doing when he was paired with the much larger Pat Wiliams.
