This probably applies mainly to MMO type games, but it also might apply to other genres.

Many online games are obviously tailored towards the larger US, Europe and Asian markets... and game companies have their gaming servers hosted in those zones accordingly leaving Australians with high latency connections to those servers.

My question does anyone know (or can provide links to) what online games actually have physical game servers in Australia?? Consoles (as hosts) don't count.

Also does anyone have any idea of how much it costs to host a gaming server in Aust??? Surely, the overheads can't be that expensive and the demand for big name titles (such as WoW, SW:TOR etc would be there).

Cheers

Does the warhammer MMO still have aussie servers?

Playing on such low ping was fantastic, and it really does change how you play the game.

Ill try to find you a link to a forum where the devs of a game broke down the costs of having Aussie servers. We charge sooo much for em here its ridiculous and I don't blame companies for not using em.

I'm pretty sure EA host servers for BF3, BFBC2 etc. in Australia, and are known for providing the minimum number required for gamers to use. As soon as traffic decreases, they start slashing the number of servers available.
