I saw him play a couple of good games in defence last year and was very impressed with his pace and reading of the game.

He is pretty big and could end up key position. I also recall he played a couple of games in the forward line for the Bullants, did anyone see these games. He has the make up of a FF, by being quick off the mark with good size about him.
193cm 93kg dob 24.02.89, I reckon we could possibly groom him to be that.

Similar to several players over the years: Fraser Gherig, Mooney the same, A Lynch started life as a Full Back, Peter MConville from Carlton played there as well. He will give us a target and could be taught along Bradshaw, I reckon this could be a blessing in disguise, it opens the door for someone elso to blossom, we are not as predictable and finally at last we get rid of the friggen cancer that the ******** was.

This kid is the one to watch...

Massive up side with his size and mobility...

Has had the groin operated on and will be up and going for the start of preseason...

We love Jamo, Bower has potential but Austin is the ONE...

Has excellent attack on the footy and certainly doesn't lack any courage. His brain fart against Freo I think shows he has a forward temperament. :D

I like him a lot. He's spent the vast majority of his time in defence and shows a heap of promise though he did kick 4 goals 11 behind in a three week patch in his first season (at the Bullants). Could be groomed for the role.

Myself, I think Hampson has a lot of potential. His marking is improving at a very fast rate much like the rest of his game and will only get better. Though admittedly it did start from a very low base.

Faster of the mark than Fev and 10cm taller. If he drops more than he catches he will be a nightmare to defend. Reminds a lot of Kurt Tippett sans the footy smarts but the boy is a hard worker and a faster learner.

Hampson if he could get more consistent overhead would be a nightmare for most clubs, however atm I think Austin is ahead of him for that role. I like the look of Hammer and Warnock in the ruck with Kruez floating around the flanks and Pocket until his body is ready to be our monster forward.

Given I expect Bradshaw to be injured most of the time, Aussie will be even more important to our forward hopes than he already was.

given that he has averaged 20.7 games per year since 2000 apart from the one season he missed entirely. i dont think he's that injury prone and seems to have recovered from the knee reco pretty well..

Definately looks like he reads the ball well in the air, understands the little things like sheperding etc and defends well.

Now that the Oger is gone....Austin (and a few others) can at least get the opportunity to play up forward for more than 5 minutes...and develop into a legitimate target at FF or CHF.

thats a great call, could definitely be a possibility in the future, hopefully they're looking at developing all these guys instead of just trying to use our picks on ready made players.

Early this season, before any of this Fev nonsense came about, I mentioned to a friend that Austin moves like he can play an important role up front. Fast, courages, strong and reads the play well. Really hope this is considered, while Fev was there it was hard for anyone else to develop as a forward with Fev being so dominant.

When I saw him at the family day earlier in the year I immediately thought 'JESUS AUSSIE IS HUGE!'. Ever since then he has improved as a player every game he has played and as a defender ticks all the boxes.

As a forward, well I need to see more at AFL level but I would imagine he is quite capable.

Very quick. Round 5th/6th quickest at Carlton over 20m.
This showed in his closing speed when spoiling. Being from interstate I have only ever watched one Bullants game live but in it Aussie nearly scored a goal from the centre square. I don't know if it was a once off, but he sure looked like he has a booming kick. Also his general play kicking is of a good standard.

cant remeber if it was the first game or second vs ethe bummers this year (tried to forget both) but aussie took a mark on the edge of the centre square. then lines it up like hes having a shot (at least a 65-70 drop punt) then actually has the belief in himself to have a shot. it was straight the whole way only for stretch fletcher to touch it right on the line.

WE will be a better club from now on. look at all these talented kids waiting for a go.

While I'm hopeful that he'll become a great player for us I realistically can't see him being any better than a Brent Staker type player, he'll be in our 22 each week and will do his job well enough.

He has more prospect as a KP than Staker, he has squarer shoulders and generally looks like he will get bigger. Staker is pigeon chested with no shoulders and is a rangy type, unlike Austin.

Glad this thread was started. I would have done so myslef to day had it not.

I think Austin has shown potential up forward, notably in a couple of games in the Ants, and last year vs Dogs.

He reads the play well, is quickish and is a good mark, good kick.........I want Bradshaw (should he arrive) to take him under his wing and teach him how to be a great forward........:thumbsu:
