It's what the Irish men's team would have also scored if they played Australia with the same ridiculous rules.

I'm just trying to put things in perspective. An 8-0 soccer match is more of a blowout than a 40-18 rugby league game, despite the scores. Of course they are completely different games, but respective fans know a belting when they see it.

Your not allowing for the fact that the Aussie team was basically a suburban club team.
Regardless of the importance of some of the names in that team for the development of women's footy, given the development in women's footy since then, I think a mid ranked AFLW team from now, would utterly destroy them.

Women's GAA on the other hand, developed an elite female structure earlier than footy did.

Given that, a game favouring GAA rules, between them, was always going to be lopsided.

I don't think this is true now, in fact, I think it's reversed. And in a game based on footy rules, I don't think an Irish team has much chance.
